Just some shots I took as the moon was rising tonight.

Moonrise was at 2355hrs. Shot was taken at 0018hrs while the moon was just above the horizon. White balance was left at "As Shot" which was basically what i saw.

Shot through a Celestron C90 Maksutov Cassergrain Telescope on prime focus.

Any filter use?

Hi mdzmr,

Actually, full moon shots look rather bland because of the lack of shadows on the craters. :)

No filters were used for the shots.

This was taken on Sept 27 2007...

Do take note of the shadows which the craters provide.

If that's the case, the Sun doesn't rise too. It's the self-revolution of the Earth. ;p

Nice shots there, vince.

:)

You mean the moon is at static position. If that the case, how do lunar eclipse happened?:dunno:

Agree with you, I aware about that. I thought of capturing a full moon at a horizon will look more dramatic(don't talk about the craters detail). I saw quite a few full moon shots taken at horizon and it look great. I myself wanted to give a try if I have a chance.

Very nice. I agree the clouds give the photo a very nice touch. The white balance adjusted version seems better - perhaps it is because it looks sharper than the first image.

Wah piang eh, this statement is really....:faint:

The word you're looking for is pedantic.

thumbs up! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Ah...okay now I get what you're saying. Yup that i have to agree that it's dramatic.

However, for a close-up shot such as the one that I did, it won't work. ;)

But if I wanna do a moon-lit landscape of the moon rising, that'd be the kind of moon I'd choose too...but it's honestly tough to shoot in Singapore cause of trees covering and it'll have to be a multiple exposure/stacked shot as the moon will be over exposed to get the foreground or the forground under exposed to get the moon right.

Got time, we all go out n shoot moon sometime! :bsmilie:

Cheers!

Must check the timing. Obviously not something at this period where moon rise at 12am.

Have you try to shoot moon in daytime.
Must try, its really give you headache.

yeah, couldn't agree more... :bsmilie:
But when the skies abit hazy without much clouds it's easier...
