Basmati means "the frangant one" in Sanskrit. Basmati is a variety of long grain rice grown in India and Pakistan. There is white Basmati rice and also brown Basmati rice. They look thinner and longer than the normal rice we usually eat. Sweet and fragrant, fluffy when cooked and not sticky. Mixed with some curry, it's good enough to consume on its own. They remind me of chinese noodles/mini bean sprouts/mini bananas. I had my first bowl of Basmati rice today. I ordered Chicken Biryani and ate from the bowl, which the waiter/owner of restaurant? informed me that I should pour the rice on the Pandan leaf given. I was wondering when will the chicken arrive. The chicken is in the rice. LOL
