Hi there,

Offering service for modifying Sigma 70-300mm macro lens for S$50.

If you own the lens, you should know that the macro mode only works within 200-300mm range. I had discover that you can do a hack to use macro mode throughout 70-300mm range for FREE (check my other post under Sigma).

However the trick might be troublesome to some. I had modified my 70-300 to be able to turn on the macro mode anytime you want be removing a part that Sigma use to lock the function. Interested? Just PM me.

If you want to service the lens at the same time please add another S$20.

Sorry typo mistake...

Can post some pics of the lens and the picture taken after the modification? I hv not used that lens b4 and may be keen to buy after seeing the modification ...

Aside from Sigma, can this be implemented on TOKINA 80-200 lens?

Thanks for the interest.

SKYimage: Sorry I don't know about Tamron lens..

paradigm: Will try to get some sample shots soon. Without modification, the Sigma 70-300 has a MFD of 1.5m at all range. However when you turns to 200-300mm range, there is a button which you can enable macro mode, which will change the MFD to 0.95m.

With the modification, you will be able to turn on the macro mode, to have a MFD of 0.95m at all range 70-300mm. You can read my other post under the 3rd party lens section where I share my discovery about the lens.

Already works on canon mount, going to work on a nikon mount soon. Note I will do the modification only without the lens cleaning. As many other ppl who know how to service lens would know this lens is an head ache to service.

Success story on Canon and Nikon mounts:

PM me.

nice work bro... will inform my friends who own this lens :)

Heh thanks shocky. By any chance are you danny?

Hi, does it work for the older gold ring version as well?
IIRC mine is gold ring but the macro only functions from 200-300mm as well, not 300mm(I suspect sigma makes quite a fair deal of update on their 70-300 range)

hehe.. just need to force turn it hard against the 'macro lock'.

Heh yep I did mentioned that for some versions you can force it by turning it to 300mm first, macro mode on, then turn back to 70mm. The modification is for you to turn on macro at ANY range instead of turning to 300mm first.

Zerodivine thanks for sharing, for now I have only seen the very old gold ring version, think you got a slightly newer ones. I will be happy to find out what's the difference in the mechanism between these few gold rings if you allow me :) Just how many different versions did sigma put up to fool people... Lens quality apart, mechanism different, concept and functions are the same

Will it have focus hunting problems after the modification?
