Dear Moderators,
We have seen numerous cases of models and photographers (mostly models though) being asked by others to provide their experience, work displayed, clients, etc. But because they may be just newbies who just came into the industry and demanded paid jobs instead of paying others to do the initial portfolio, they often get shot down by some of the more experience 'old birds' here.
I think we cannot blame either party. Everyone has the right to demand for paid jobs, provided he/she can get their clients. We can't also point our fingers at the 'old birds' here too, as most of us here think that the newbies need to have decent portfolios before they start asking for paid jobs.
I have a suggestion which I think may be able to help resolve this issue. Before these models/photographers start posting their first thread, I'm think it's a good idea to get them to indicate the number of years/months of modelling/photography experience, and the clients they have worked with. Moderators may want to scan through their online portfolio to see if they fit the bill. I'm sure with your experience, you can tell if those photos posted online are of certain quality.
If the moderators think that their portfolio and experience don't match, the posts can either be taken down, or you can simply tell them to get a better portfolio by paying first, or go shoot some quality ones before coming back again.
In this case, we can be sure those who came asking for paid jobs have reached a certain calibre, and not some t,d,h who wanted quick money.
Rest, please feel free to give any suggestions to improve the situation. Thank you.
