This is carried over from my previous MO thread.

Now this MO is opened to all items, not only bags. All buyers who are willing to share the delivery cost to ship from US are welcome.

Of course, the more buyers we have, the cheaper our stuff will be!;)

We will be ordering from B&H photo, a reputable US online retailer.

For now, the interested firm parties and items are

1) clown (Tamrac Velocity 5 hippack)
2) wormz777 (Tamrac Velocity 5 hippack)
3) Nihar ((Tamrac Velocity 7 backpack)

Please refer to www.bhphoto.com for the prices.

Hope to close this MO by next week or when we got enuff people (>5), whichever is earlier.

Just like to bring your attention to B&H's shipping charges to Singapore, taken from their website (all currency in US$, and 1lb is roughly 500grams):

Airmail (up to US$500 value):

Min. $25 for 1st lb.
Add $5 for each additional lb.
Insurance $1.25 per $100

EXPRESS MAIL (Up to $500 value)

Minimum $35 for 1st lb.
Add $4 for each additional lb.
Includes Insurance

FED EX PRIORITY

Min. $35 for 1st lb.
Add $4 for each additional lb.
Insurance 50¢ per $100

B&H will declare the full value of the items for customs purposes, so be prepared to be charged import duty when the good arrive in Singapore. I am not sure what is the limit for tax-free imports, so I suggest that you check it out.

To wormz777, I would advice you to work out a more detail plan and inform the interested parties on what to expect. It would be helpful to set a deadline for closing the orders, and then give an estimated delivery date. Also, work out how you would like to handle payments, and the plan for collection.

I don't think you are giving any guarantee that the B&H pricing would be better than any other sources, and I also believe that those who place their orders are binded by the committment especially after you have placed the consolidated order with B&H.

Before you place the order with B&H, please confirm and get all buyers to agree on the pricing of the items they are getting. Since you are organising an MO for differen items, this is very important.

Sorry to interfere with your MO. I appreciate your efforts, and would not like to see you get burnt in this activity by unforseen circumstances. For example, what happens if B&H dropped the price of a particular item soon after you have placed the order and the member who ordered that item demands the better price from you?

You better state your terms and conditions clearly.

wormz, i agree with roy. have to work out the shipping details if you're gonna open up the MO to any item from B&H. how about just restricted to Velocity stuff?

but having said that, i'm keen to get a bag too... :D

1) clown (Tamrac Velocity 5 hippack)
2) wormz777 (Tamrac Velocity 5 hippack)
3) Nihar ((Tamrac Velocity 7 backpack)
4. Larry (Tamrac Velocity 9 Pro slingpack)

Hello, I am interested to get two camera housing from ewa marine (ewa marine UA and UF)

how will you calculate the delivery cost? are you going to divide it based on weight percentage or equally amongst buyers?

The housing weight is only around 350-400 grm each...

please explain your plan (delivery cost, payment, ordering time, etc). thanks.

Pretty sure GST will be charged from S$400.

i would like to order a stofen omnibounce for Canon speedlite 420ex. hope can join you. the price there is USD16.95. shipping cost will be $26.25 by AIR PARCEL POST if i order by myself alone. this is a very light and cheap item which wont change price too much. just the shipping cost is terrible if i order alone.

When I last did a US purchase 2yrs back, the sum was USD 350 before u had to pay the GST on it.

saw a few of them at CP yesterday (29/5). Go grab one while they still have it.

Thanks Roy for pointing out to me the precautions I need to take.

Okie, some of my answers to your queries.

1) If Java guru is right, GST will be imposed on purchases above US$350. So far our total purchases are around US$206. If aowgy is to join us, this figure will definitely break the $350 barrier, all of us will have to pay the 4% GST. I have decided that aowgy will be not be allowed to join in the MO. Sorry aowgy. This is for the sake of less complications and the good of everyone. Anyone have any objections please express your views here.

2) As the when to close the MO, I will try to keep it to our small group (partly becos of the GST) and will stop collecting new orders once the total amount of purchases hits near to US$350. That will mean at most 2 more orders for the Tamrac Velocity bags.

3) How to distribute the shipping? From the B&H website, each individual item if we order ourselves seperately, the shipping charges are the same i.e. ard US$31.25. Thus, I feel that its unfair if we divide the shipping costs according to each items exact weight. So the shipping cost will be shared equally among us, that is if all purchases are bags.

4) As for the payment, I would like to collect from all participants some deposit (20%) before I place the final order. I am also writing off the possiblity of adding GST to the final cost since we are keeping the total purchases under US$350. I am using my debit card for the online purchase, so I hope the extra charges can be shared among us too, but i doubt it will be much.

For now I shall update the list of participants once again and the rough cost of the items (including shipping). Interested parties can use that as a guide as well.

Tamrac Velocity 5
1) clown
2) wormz777

Tamrac Velocity 9
1) Nihar
2) larry

Price of current MO (4 buyers) of
1) Tamrac Velocity 5 = US$45.50 = SGD$81.90 (excluding shipping)
2) Tamrac Velocity 9 = US$57.95 = SGD$104.31 (excluding shipping)

Total Shipping Charges (by Air Parcel Post) = US$63.75 = SGD$114.75

1) Tamrac Velocity 5 = SGD$107.98 (INcluding shipping)
2) Tamrac Velocity 9 = SGD$130.39 (INcluding shipping)

The above price might drop a little if more buyers join in.

For other models of Tamrac bags, you can refer to www.tamrac.com for details.

That's all for now folks ;)

worms,

i suggest u give a call up to a local office of a major frieght handler eg UPS, Fedex and ask if u ship something in from US, how much the GST. very easy as they have call centres open 24hrs.

I used Airborne Express the last time so u can chk there too.

 ........come join me with your TAMRAC.......

I have been using TAMRAC Velocity 3.....got it in San Diego!!!!!!!!

Really great bag.......doesn't look like a camera bag at all......safe for my overseas travel...i like it!!!!!

Nearly got the velocity 5.....but the bag seems too puffy and putting the items in with my current load looks abit bloated....

Have you guys seen it physically???....The velocity 5 is 22x8x20cm
and velocity 3 is 30x7x23

The gauge given with the equipment listed - 1 flash + 1 body+ 2 lens...may not be accurate........i mean to your SLR system. If you want to check out the size of the Velocity 3 and the space inside based on the dimension given .......i can arrange one day for anyone interested to see it.......maybe this saturday at the botanic....

One key factor for choosing the velocity 3 is the dedicated phone pouch.....

regards,
Sulhan

Sulhan, do you know if the Velocity can fit a EOS 30 with grip + 2 normal tele? Fit as in the EOS 30 + grip + one normal tele mounted pointing downwards?

Very impt if I am going to buy this great looking bag!!

wormz, looking at the orders so far, they're all Velocity bags, so i suggest we keep it that way and split the shipping costs evenly. that would make it easier for everyone instead of going to the grams and volume of each item. the weight difference between each model is negligible so i don't think it's gonna end up very different anyway.

Yeah .. That's what I am going to do.

But looking at the internal dimensions of the Velocity 5 - 8cm width!?!?! I wonder it can still fit my EOS 30 + grip  If cannot, er...

Hope Sulhan reply quickly

I might end this MO early since the discount not tt great with 1 or 2 people joining in.

Hi There..

Comfortably....
EOS 30...with grip.....??? Installed - No
EOS 30...with grip.....???Uninstalled - Yes

Uncomfortably
EOS 30...with grip.....??? Installed - Yes - 50mmlens with grip loaded in first and the lens face front......
EOS 30...with grip.....???Uninstalled - Yes

I currently used the vertical grip and put it in the Velocity 3. If i use the long lens then i need to face the lens down like the one shown in the photo in the tamrac website.

here are some photos...

Thanks Sulhan for taking time to take some pics! Appreciated it very much

Oh man ...

May I know how tall is your camera with grip on? I mean the length of the side of the cam when its pointing down. I measured mine with grip and its 13cm tall...also 50% out of the internal width specified on the Tamrac website

Where will you be on Saturday afternoon? I assumed you will be in BG in the morning.

what the difference between velocity 5/3 and Lowepro reporter 200/300 AW? looks they are very similar. anything special about Tamrac velocity?

btw i am also interested to order a Canon EF 50 f/1.4 USM from BH. it's USD290, means S$500, far cheaper than Singapore price which is $670.
