Not sure about the response, but got to try. Guessing that Nikon Singapore will follow the other countries and drop the price sooner or later, and the current weak economy, if we form a group and approach the retailer shop, we should get a very favourable price/quote. If you are serious to join this MASS-ORDER, pls let me know.
Points to note: We will only buy Nikon-Singapore approved products, no parallel import or grey matters or second-hands.

Just some hints..
If you have a company, you can do a direct purchase from Nikon Singapore - treat it as a corporate purchase...
Chances are its much lower than the prices given by the retailers....

That's right! Once we form a group, we can buy direct from Nikon Singapore. Cut out the middleman like what the Dell advertisment said. ;)

Astin, correct me if I am wrong. Nikon Singapore do not entertain sales to end user and only to distributor or some big retailer in Singapore. I think is better to ask CP or AP to perform the MO.

How many users here HAVE actually gotten rid of their D100?

I see more users upgrading from 30D to 60D, and eventually 60D to 10D. How many D100 users here have actually moved on to Nikon 1DX or 1Dh?

Why not Canon 30D, 60D or 10D?

No flames.

It's D1X, D1H. ;p

Anyway, obviously Nikon users are more happy with their purchase and have less upgrade itch than their counterparts....

Not many people would be able to sell all their current setup ,lens to another maker easily. Too expensive at least in my case.

No flames

Well, you are wrong...
The place that I am working at (sorry, can't tell you much, I don't even know if I will get into trouble if I say this... ;p ) bought only 1 unit of D100 for only $3350 w/o GST, and that was bought not later than this year Jan...

That was a company purchase though.
But it may depend on whether you are using a "big company's" name is reputable or not..... heh.

SNAG, at $3350 without GST, wouldn't it be pretty close to the price that AP or CP sells it for? ($3350+4%=$3484) At the price your company got it, did it have the CF & hardcase too?

Ha ha... I suppose you must have been the guy who's hogging the use of the D100 in your company!:bsmilie: :D

ASTIN:

I've been wanting to get a DSLR, probably a D100, but had been holding out becos I wanted to get a feel of the 10D first. Now, even after I tried it out, I still prefer the D100. So count me in as a very interested party to your MO if it succeeds.:D

wait a min..
you mean that was the market price of a D100 during end Dec - early Jan?
Oops... I thought that a D100 cost something like $3.6k all along.... heh!!

If I recall correctly, the price from AP, CP & MS Color were around $3500 during that time. When the promotion of the 256MB & hardcase came out on the 29th Jan, the price went down to $3450 at the cam shops, minus the card & case. But in late Feb, they included the card & case.

Now, the eqoute from MS COLOR is $3350 w/GST($3220 w/o GST). Not sure about the applicablility of the CF & case, since the promo is supposed to have ended on 31st March.

So it's not really that cheap ah?
:D

Anyway, you may want to wait till the official price cut comes to Singapore..
There have been price cuts in the US for the D100 as well.
US$1699

Hi finkster, if we are patience, we will be rewarded later. Lets see how much Nilkon Singapore will drop the price.

Anthony from AP mentioned that it's unlikely Nikon will reduce the price by much. I hope he's wrong, but I got a feeling it's partially true too. It will not drop to the same as 10D, but if the promotion of the card & case is over, the price definitely has to be reduced to a certain extent. My guess? $3000-3200 with GST.

Willing to wait n see, but up to a month max. If the price doesn't drop by then, it probably never will.

I heard June... If US drop by 300, SG should drop by 550

Actually, in my personal comments, Nikon will definitely lower their prices of their D100 in a bid to rival Canon's 10D.

As a Nikon user, I was kinda tempted to get the Canon 10D due to its low price.... :D, but that would warrant me to switch systems/have 2 systems at a time, which is way way too costly.

Canon 10D anyone?

Latest quote from MS Color:

Nikon D100 $3220

Need to add 4% GST though.

It certainly doesn't make sense for Nikon to sell the camera at the same price as what the distributor get. If I am the distributor and I happen to know this, I will not sell Nikon's product anymore. What's the point of selling when Nikon undercut me to sell to others directly?

the recommended selling price may drop but the effect on the retail price may not be effected immediately - the distributors may have old stocks at an old price and hence, may not be able to reduce much until they get the new stock or nikon give them them some form of rebate.

my 2 cents.
