hi anyone interested?
if yes, State your camera/lens model so we can get the appropriate plate.
you can go to their website to check it out.

www.kirkphoto.com

ps. have checked out the acratech ones. in no way are they better than the kirkphoto ones i have oredi for my canon PB-E2.

granted they are light but very uncomfortable to hold as they have sharp edges and are not low-profile. finish is also very rough compared with the smooth anodised finish of the kirkphoto ones.

other interesting things they have:
macro couplers (male to male threads), telephoto flash brackets, and replacement tripod collars for NIKON teles (i'm quite impressed with this, but no canon:()

I have never touched or feel kirkphoto/RRS plates before but my arcatech plates doesnt have sharp edges like what you mentioned. Maybe I never have any experience of getting cut by the aractech plates yet. Also I am pretty satisfied with the finishing too.

Maybe kirkphoto/RRS offers a *much* better feel but I think the price is very uncomfortable to most (if not all) people here. :D

hi jason. maybe we can meet sometime and we can compare them.
the killer is in the shipping. hence the MO. otherwise, its quite 'cheap' 55-60 US dollars.

This MO is open to all who knows the quality of the kirkphoto/RRS or are willing to try but would also like to get some savings in shipping.

i was lucky the first time when i got my kirkphoto pb-e2 plate 2nd hand.

but unfortunately, it does not fit the camera i'm using now.

damieno, i'm interested in a couple L-shape brackets from Kirk Photo.
- the BL-F100G (for Nikon F-100 w/MB-15 grip)
- the BL-F5 (for Nikon F5)

can let me know how much it'll all come up to? just to see how the shipping is like...

As on their website...
"Attention International Customers:
Due to the need to insure our shipments, all international shipments will carry a declaration of their FULL VALUE. You may be required to pay taxes, duty, VAT, or similar fees upon receiving your shipment, so please consider this before placing your order. Kirk will NOT undervalue shipments to reduce or avoid these taxes, so please don't ask.

International orders are subject to additional shipping costs, which will be added to the amount of your order when charged to your credit card. For an average order, however, you can expect to pay around $20 to $30. Some will be less, some will be more.

If you need to know an exact shipping charge before we complete your order, please indicate such in the "special instructions" box and be sure to include your phone number. This will delay your order slightly. Again, all prices listed on this website are in US dollars.

Most international orders are shipped by Federal Express, which generally takes 3-8 days to arrive. "

ps. i THINK its 20 bucks...the most 30 US dollars cos they usually go by size of package until a certain weight. plates should be fairly light and not too bulky.

hi all,
streamlining this to ordering from 1 source: kirkphoto.com, any objections?

have also emailed kirkphoto for exact shipping charges to singapore
