I still don't quite understand. why would people want to tape up their camera bodys, lens hood, flash units.

Is it that they wanted tape to act as a protective layer over the bodys, lens, flash so as to prevent scratches?

Sorry for all the qns.

1. prevent scratches
2. disguise equipment
3. prevent dust sticking into joints
4. improve grip
5. improve the looks?
6. or just to personalise the equipment ;p
