Thanks to each and everyone for making this MO a success. The first person collected at 4pm and last one at 5 sharp. My apology for not able to say a few more words to some of you as I was busy, err...counting $ :embrass:

I was considering organising another MO if the adapters are reasonably good and value for money. To establish this, I would need your feedback. Preferably to be posted in this thread.

I notice there's a tiny screw on the contax to eos adapter, guess this is to secure the adapter to the lens. I tried looking for a contax lens to test the adapter but not available. Will anyone verify this? I will really appreciate that.

Thanks again ALL.

The screw appears to be able to prevent over turning of the lens on the adaptor on first examination. But when attaching the lens, the "engaging" part of the lens does not get anywhere near the screw!!! And its already very tight!! So I can't imagine how anyone can further tighten the lens on the adaptor to bring the "engaging" part closer to the screw for it to do its job.

Btw, the adaptor is rather difficult to remove from the camera body. Plus the machined edges of the adaptor are very sharp!! I shredded the surface of my thumbs trying to take it off!!!

Otherwise no complaints!!! Good product!! The Leica R to EOS adaptor works well too!!!

Great product and seller! Thank you! ;)

I would like to ask a question from anyone of you who have tried the Nikon adapter. My problem is very odd. I'm not sure if it's my camera, the lens, or the adapter. When the point I want to be in focus is sharp in my viewfinder, the resulting picture is always off focus. The actual picture focuses much nearer than what I saw in the viewfinder when I press the shutter.

The Nikkor manual focus lens that I have tried (35mm f/2) works fine with my manual Nikon body.

My camera focuses okay my Canon EF 35mm f/2 lens.

What should I do to find out what is the cause of the problem?

Hi Ewhale, the canon eos focusing screen is very difficult for manual focusing. I've 90% out of focus initially, and have slight improvement after some practice. Now I get 99% focused picture after changing to a split prism focusing screen. Please refer to Maxim comment ealier (page 2) in this thread. He faced the same problem, and have changed the focusing screen as well. Hope this helps.

Hi, I just post my advice and hope it will be helpful to your problem.
I advice you to focus from infinity to nearest focus distance.
During the focus process. Look at the target from viewfinder, if the target is clear, stop manual focus immediately.

Thanks for the information. Top Gun, I have tried your method. For me, it's hit and miss. By the way, can the split focusing screen be installed on D30? Where to get it and how much? Thanks again for sharing. :)

Pm you. :)

PQ23, can u consider another MO, please?

Yes. I'm quite happy with the Nikon -> EOS adepter from you last MO. Would you be doing it again soon?? :D

I dont know why,but using the adapter all the Nikon mount lens is front focused
ie: when i focus on the face, i get the front shoulder sharp

the amount is only slight, but if you use lower depth of field you will find it irritating

The method of focusing for infinity should be helpful but fo r me i focus it, then push slightly to infinity, very slightly

The focusing screen is both a blessing and a curse
Works with in very bright light, but it dims very quickly and then you could barely focus

if you should stop down, ie use smaller aperture, then
it is IMPOSSIBLE to focus :((

overall, for cheap solutions this is great
but if you need to work fast, kids photo etc, then absolutely recommend you try other ways

Thanks! Probably will.

Maxim, the EOS digital body is extremely difficult for manual focusing, cos the view finder is so tiny. If you need to stop down, you have to focus open up, stop down and shoot. I read this somewhere. I get < 10% hit rate to shoot my son (1 yr+), and 99.99% hit rate in still subject.

Finally, i've tried the contax adapter on a Contax 50mm distagon f1.7. The adapter to camera body is perfect. But adapter to lens is rather loose. Managed to tighten it by opening up the gap with a screw driver, see picture below. It's quite an easy job. Now it's very tight :) Swoping lens is as easy as using an EF lens. And it focuses to infinity too!
