I like no. 4. Very fresh. I like it. The rest, hmmm, can we talk about no. 4.

No. 4 is also the only one where the skin tone is ok, not great, but at least ok, while the rest are all CMI!

can help point out, is too saturated or too cool on your monitor for the rest photo..

for me neither...since we are talking abt colours...will not comment on the pose.

#1 looks deathly pale and white.
#2 looks to me a tad bit red.

Bro, has it got something to do with the WB?

If this was done studio, was there a light meter for you on hand to use as well?

The cropping is the big and I fiind it too many space.Try to crop as tight as possible.Bro.

one way that I used to do on my old 5D was this.

WB settings in a studio is not as tricky as outdoor settings as the light is more or less constant. So to get the WB right, I use an Expodisc, even in outdoors. Costs about $180 for the largest size. Shoot to get the WB right using incident light. Set the settings as using CWB and shoot. Do not adjust thereafter esp in studio shoots.

For the record, I do not shoot studios. But having someting like a Grey Card will help a lot (if you do not want to invest in an Expodisc) to maintain the WB. A lot of fashion shows have Grey Cards for photogs to set the WB first before shooting as the lights will run amok on the sensor esp if you have more than one light source and getting falsh bombs left, right and centre.

but looking at ur colours, may want to check your portrait settings on your cam.

There's no right or wrong how the skin tone should be. As long as its not too awkward or unnatural should be alright.

so mine is ok or totally unnatural ?:embrass:

All looks okay with me.

If you doing it professionally then i believe there will be an industry standard or you should have equipment and tools to get the right desirable WB. Damn if you client wants it otherwise wouldn't you break the rules to do it 'right' for them?

it's neither, what I found problematic, was the inconsistency within the picture itself. 4 and 5 are the most consistent of the set.

to put it this way.

while it is correct to say it is you who defines how you want your skin tone to look and yes there is no saying as to what the correct skin tone should be, if you are comfortable then by all means, it is your call. :)

but the contentious issue here sometimes is not about what you want. I remember once I took part in a grp shoot with a model from overseas. I was using my 5D at that time. She wanted to look at the pics, I showed her. She was slightly taken aback as she commented she looked like a ghost. That was when I learnt that 1) sometimes, you do not determine how the model should look esp where skin issues are concerned and 2) here on CS as someone told me before, slightly warmer colours are a choice preference, which is where this becomes debatable.

so, for me personally, as for the two pics you posted for colours comparison, i will say neither will I choose to post. But if you ask me which is better, I will say 2.:)

try this for size. Now you are using standard. Next time try portrait setting, try natural settings, etc. see which works best for you. Me, I always use portriat settings. Standard for me is a problem as it can be a tad bit saturated. I like softer skin tones.

So for potraits people as least make them look good. Post process, edit, use manual or 'dummies' mode do anything and everything so as to accomplish the minimal. Don't have to always go manual so that you will look like a pro. In situation when you feel the 'auto' mode is the way to go why not?

Shooting other stuff besides potraits sometimes no need post processing. Insects, landscapes, nature, macros, pets, animals, outings all straight from the cam.

TS, great photos. I like the skin tone. It works for me!

nice and simple :)
