Davao, Mindanao - Kadayawan 2009, Performance by the tribal children

The Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival in the city of Davao in the Philippines. Its name derives from the friendly greeting "Madayaw", from the Dabawenyo word "dayaw", meaning good, valuable, superior or beautiful. The festival is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living.

I think compositionally and strength of story telling, your series is notches above what we usually see here.

However, don't mind me saying, I think some are processed slightly too much to the extent it takes a bit away from end product.

Popped by your flickr and saw the wonderful collection, hope you can post up more soon. :)

Great job kabayan!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:very moving series, indeed. keep it up!

Thank you for your support and feedback. The many photographs here were taken and post processed in different time. But luckily I can always re-process them to suit different occasions and events. I feel I learned a lot in Photoshop post processing in last 4 months. Thanks to mentors from photography society. I am now experimenting merging 'salon' art and reportage techniques into one. Very difficult as one is talking about perfectness and the other imperfectness.

Great job kabayan!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:very moving series, indeed. keep it up!
Thank you koya!

Cebu 6.33am - Being together

6.33am in the moning while you and I were still in bed and having sweet dream...these children might be dreaming of food. They would be lucky if they could have at least a meal a day.
