I just took over the old family Minolta Hi-Matic 7S. Was wondering where is a good place to go get it cleaned?

Also, anyone familiar with using it? The last time I used it was when I was still a kid. :bsmilie:

I really don't fancy sending it to Sony since they just took over from KM. :( I'd rather send it to someone who is familiar with cleaning old cameras. So any ideas of where?

TCW do clean lens, not sure about camera

Sony dd employ some technicians from KM before closing KMSC.

Hmmm... I'll go check out TCW.

How about... anyone know how to use the Minolta Hi-Matic 7S??

I actually have one which I bought as a collection through eBay. You can also send the camera to Prime Camera in Peninsula. His workmanship is very good. As for the how to use the camera, you could look at the instruction manual here.

yes, sent a few 7S II to Prime [andrew] to clean. Good.
Camera Hospital [steven] also did a great job for me on one of them.
Both reasonably priced repair service.

Hi... where is Prime Camera located in Peninsula and where is The Camera Hospital?

prime - next to Cathay photo store.

camera hospital - sunshine plaza
remeber the gomez saga? the elections dept is next door to sunshine plaza. bounded by Middle road and [edit (wrong)Purvis St] Prinsep Link.

Hey thanks. I'll go check them out later.

Try DE camera consultant, Grand Link Square, next to City Plaza, nearest mrt Paya Lebar. office: 67426383

He will prolly clean while you wait. I bought the same camera from him a couple of years ago and used it regularly as a bump around cam. Pretty nice results.

Any idea of the cost of cleaning?

I know it may not belong to this forum, do you know if these shops also repair a Minolta X700 with a jammed shutter? Any idea how much to repair?

Thanks guys!

You'll have to bring your camera around to the repair places to let them have a look and give you a quote. Then pick the place you're most comfortable with. That's what I did.

Can try Cam-X at Peninsula Hotel Shopping Centre. Contact Nick Foo at 63391232.

I have had pleasant experience with them for restoring my Yashica GSN. I am sure they can fix your Hi-matic.

Hi. Does anyone know where I can get the battery for Hi-Matic 7? I understand there are issues if alkaline replacment is used? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
