Lenses do not affect perspective. Only camera position relative to the subjects does. This is one of the most long-standing myths in photography, and it can unfortunately be seen, heard and learned even through textbooks, courses and people otherwise quite knowledgeable.

Sp waht exactly is perspective? I'm a little confused! :dunno:

Hi Alvin....

Here is a link on Photographic Magazine ( i have the hard copy)....this is by far one of those straight forward example......look at the highway example....

Hi Sulhan!
Thanks for clearing that up. I've now got a slightly improved understanding of why the image can be compressed due to different focal lengths. BTW, this is the article that I read up about: http://www.photozone.de/3Technology/demos/focalCompress.htm

Evidently the camera moves, hence the chance in perspective at different focal lengths though the foreground subject remains quite similar.

Haiz DSLR. Hopefully by the time my sis gets grandkids (50-60 yrs from now?) I'll be able to purchase a full frame minolta slr lol. I must say though with a film cam I really think much longer before releasing the shutter.
