I have confirmation that THE Minolta DSLR will be announced in October. And yes, it will have a AntiShake sensor, making all lens immediately better than IS or VR, because there is no need for extra optical elements in the lens for compensation.

Confirmation from where? Don't make me itch to shift back to minolta..heh.:)

Sorry for being skeptical...... but may I ask what was your source of confirmation??? Minolta has been playing its cards really close to its chest for some years now.......

Hee, so what makes you think Minolta will hold its cards close close to its chest forever? :)

As is usual with this type of sources, I can't disclose it, sorry, or give hints of where it originates from. But you won't have long to wait to verify its truth.. the annoucement will be out in early Oct.

Oh, yes my Minolta 100-300 APO lens shall become the super-duper telephoto zoom lens of all times, with long reach, image stablisation, and excellent image quality too! Say that to a Olympus 750 or Panasonic Z1 or even Minolta's own Z1 and what have you other 10x zooms.

Kekeke... my Minolta 100-400 APO will be even better........ if I ever can afford the DSLR........ kekeke......... :D

Here's more rumours to keep you all occupied till the official news : )

Is the new Minolta DSLR called Zeus ?

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1022&message=5940327

.. and the table comparing the 'Minolta DSLR' to other DSLRs

http://www.swissarmyfork.com/dslr_table_1.htm.

The table states that the sensor is the same as the D100's and has a 1.5 crop factor, no mention about image stabilisation though.

Crop factor means no full sized sensor right??? Rats!

Seems like the same Sony sensor as the D100 and *istD. Hope that it won't be the same situation as the it was for the previous Sony sensor they used.(5700 vs D7i vs 707)

Yeah crappy ain't it? Buying good glass and not using all of it.... particularly not good for those guys who use wide angle :(

Yup, I am a wide angle fan too and this doesn't sounds good.
of course, my long tele lens becomes much more powerful.

BTW, with this crop factor do we have a corresponding aperature drop?
ie. f/4 * 1.5 to become f/6?

Nope. So your 300 f2.8 becomes a 450f2.8.:)

Win some, lose some.

but the er.... perspective (or what do you call it? The apparent distance between fore/back ground) still stays at that of a 300mm right? As well as the DOF and other characteristics? Suppose I want a 24mm equiv I'll "need" a 16mm lens, but that'll give me the perspective of a 16mm right? *not* good.

When I was introduced to dslrs this supremely turned me off.... especially since my staple is 28-70 or (just this weekend) the best 50mm!!!! very nice perspective. The alternative of course is the 1Ds, but yeah, I'd rather buy a used trueno with the cash.

Cool. So now out of sudden, I got a 150-450 f/4 telephoto zoom.........
The birds/wild life/sports photographer will benefit most......

Wide angle lovers, complain!! And perhaps we can see one with a
0.75 crop factor. :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Dream on :blah:

I bet the edge's distortion must be real bad at 0.75.

Another rumour of Diflex 7 (Digital Dynax 7) with crop factor of 1.3. That is really great! Maximum usage of the center sweet spot yet throw out the poor performance edges.

Out of sudden so many new models coming out , :D. Anyway, just join in the fun of it. I can't afford anyway.

kekeke.. no NEW MODEL coming out.. just plenty of rumours :D ... still waiting

Hiee....

......Got some feedback from some market analysts. All these sudden gush of releases of DSLR by Canon....(300D) look like an intercept of "probable" rumours of Minolta releasing a DSLR with Anti-shake + the release of the Pentax D*ist.

Canon may have packaged a system into a cheaper one ....ie. 10D insides minus parts/specs/trimmed firmware into the 300D.

As the cost of $1900++ really kills the other prosumer cams like the SOny 828 and the Minolta A1....etc............

Great strategy....

Well what ever.....me juz wait and see......

Yupe! I was really surprised to see that the EOS300D was only $1999! That is like so much cheaper than the usual entry level DSLR!!! I hope Minolta takes the cue and gets in a full sized CCD DSLR at about the same price with the anti-shake thingy............ but for me, the movie option for digicam is quite important due to my needs......... :D So it looks at the moment that I might end up with a Fuji Finepix S602Z or it's update....... pity DSLRs can't do movies........

Lenses do not affect perspective. Only camera position relative to the subjects does. This is one of the most long-standing myths in photography, and it can unfortunately be seen, heard and learned even through textbooks, courses and people otherwise quite knowledgeable.

HI Magnus....

I agree with your inputs on the perspective.....

Its always been a myth that people are told that the lens will change the perspective........

From my understanding....if you stand from point A....taking a picture of subject at B....the perspective using 24mm up to 300mm zoom is basically has an effect of cropping the photo but the perspective stays the same....(not considering the DOF - assuming DOF is very wide). Its the position of the photographer to the subject that change the perspective.....

too bad....
