usually the long end for portraits.

Just decided to buy both lens. The beercan i will be buying from one of the members hera and the 28-135 overseas @ 200sgd only. So cheap that I can afford to buy both. I was expecting to buy a 28-135 at around 500sgd.

Crap, at least 200 US for a decent copy. In your currency the lens is junk, leave it.

just wondering, does using a heavy lens like beercan, for prolong periods, will it damage ur camera's mounting?

I hang my A350 with minolta 75-300mm lens (which weights less than 500g) and already can feel its pretty heavy. The beercan is much heavier, just wondering will the camera suffer damage after using such heavy weights for too long.

The minolta 100-200 f4.5 is as good as the beercan IMO. It's better in terms of weight and it AF faster than the beercan. The minolta 35-70 is a sharp lens also. Just stick with the 35-70 and 100-200 and just invest on dedicated macro lens.

No worries. It's fine. And when you shoot, you'll probably be supporting the lens with your left hand anyway.

A700 can carry the weight of the beercan. I use to hold the body alone when walking and it doesn't feel that it will damagae the camera mounting.

Both the 28-135 and beercan are heavy compared to 100-200. the later just feels nice in a700.

just one word of advice for 28-135mm lens, becos it is an very old lens, it has been subjected to much wear and tear over the years... do check the coating inside for any defects and mechanical areas as well

28-135mm is around 900g.. a very heavy lens from what I feel.. I always feel tired after holding the lens while candid around town areas for the whole day..

but its AF is super fast and very good lens to shoot with. the macro is also a plus for this lens. not macro insects but flowers. nv try on insects though. but not the lens you would want for low light

when dealing with low light for 28-135mm use flash... :D
