tried the minolta 100-300 (D) lens on dynax 7, the AF is not really reponsive, some hunting observed, not to mention the less contrasty subject.
Any better 300mm zoom lens for dynax 7?

While I have never used the 100-300 (D), all cameras and lenses are prone to hunting in situations with low contrast or low light levels. Of course, the 300/2.8 mentioned will generally focus better due to its larger aperture, but it's not certain that it will hunt less nevertheless! That's why the professional lenses have a focus delimiter, to help with the extremes -- the lens will still hunt, but only between set boundaries. If you want a serious 300mm lens without breaking the bank, look for a new or used 300/4. Unfortunately, that's the only affordable Minolta 300mm alternative that is better than the 100-300, but it's no zoom...

Tried it at minolta showroom, aiming both less contrasty area and bright and contrasty objects. a little disappointed with the hunting, guess i'll consider the 300mm mentioned.
but it's got no 'D'.

the 100-300mm with dynax 7 u holding at Funan is a G lens my dear.

I got no problem forcusing with it.

i don't think it is. it's a black plastic body, light, mid-range zoom. f4.5-5.6 D.
the G u mentioned is the one attached to the body for displayed, 300mm fixed focal.
the assistant, took the black 100-300mm from inside and mount on for my testing.

That does not matter. All "D" technology is helping with is direct on-camera flash. Pretty pointless with a tele anyway, no? ;) OK, so you have the DOF scale at the back of the camera that needs "D" too, but it's no big deal IMO.
