This is my only decent wide field picture of the Milky Way... Singapore is too light polluted to get good wide field picture of the night sky and also didn't had much chance to go Mersing that often... even I went there, still need to be in good weather (no cloud and no haze)...impressive one! anymore?
It's two exposures of 5 minute each, not 2 and 5 minute exposures...hi, i'm pretty interested how you managed to get your 2 and 5 minute exposures without the stars trailing. I tried a simple 30sec exposure and the stars are already elongated.

Anyway, the camera is mounted on a german equatorial mount with motor drive, which will compensate the earth rotation once properly aligned and minimize star trail.
Have a nice day.

Would love to see some of your other astro works![]()
Hmm... It'll depend on loading capacity and brand. I think a new mid-brand decent non-GOTO GEM (loading capacity of 7kg) with Single Axis motor drive and controller will be around S$1900. A chinese clone one will be cheaper, but usually not recommended for imaging.May I ask, how much does one of these german equatorial mount with motor drive cost?
Yes, it is usually more expensive to get from Singapore, but it getting better now. You can actually find Astronomical products in Singapore (or you can get it from Hong Kong via internet) with pricing comparable to the US especially those made in Japan, China and Taiwan... You just need to know where to look for them...In US, the equipment is a lot cheaper to get. Too bad, Singapore is too expensive.
ah yes... that was what i was suspecting.. an eqautorial mount. how long did it take you to align it? :sweat:weixing said:Hi,

I think I took less than 10 minutes to check the alignment... it is only 50mm Lens and for 5 minutes exposure.ah yes... that was what i was suspecting.. an eqautorial mount. how long did it take you to align it?
That's Astro Scientific Centre... the only Astronomy shop that had a official show room in Singapore. Price of most branded scopes are expensive, but still can find some scopes that are quite reasonable price. Also, they may be the only shop in Singapore that provide scope cleaning service.any shops to recommend to get astro telescope?? the only one i have been to is the one at omni theatre
