This adapter allows A6500 shooters to monitor audio with headphones.
Will not work for Canon M5/M6.

Sui! But does it affect internal recording if the HDMI is attached? *scratch head*

Good point. I use an external field monitor (BM video assist) with the A7Rii, internal recording works as normal, but the LCD blacks out once you hit record. If the behaviour is the same as in a6500, you will be shooting blind unless you also connect a LCD mon to the VGA?

Turn off HDMI info and it will work even when recording.

Thanks, wasn't aware of this, will try it on the next shoot!

Just tested it, had nothing to do with this setting, it's the expected behaviour when shooting 4K on the a7R2.

According to the User Guide page 149:
Images will not appear on the monitor when you record movies while the camera is connected to an HDMI device with [ File Format] set to [XAVC S 4K]. This is a normal operation of the camera.

The dual record has to be on as well if recording in 4K.
Go to 4:15 for the explanation.

Interesting, will check it out again when I have the chance
