Bought from Alan Photo at $580. Not a cheap flash.

I would say...better than 550EX. I think I am going to get flamed for this one.

It's ETTL is more predictable. Unlike 550EX which gives erratic results. Power wise, about the same as 550.

It cannot act as master and slave though, which in this aspect the 550EX wins.

I think it can communicate with as master and slave with other Metz flashes...

Yes, but have to buy their adapters. Alan Photo does not carry their adapters. Have to ask Cathay.
