Hi there, does anyone know the current market rate shooting menu. My job will just be shooting at the food. The menu will be design by others. Thanks in advance.
I heard some people were charging $10 per item have no idea what the quality was. Menu jobs tend to be low paying now that consumer digital camera are common. Some eatery owners do their own photography and only pay when they have no choice. Good industrial standard food photography is expensive - the real thing not the can do can do okay lah because its cheap variety.
well, I charge by the hour and that includes the setting up time, posing the food, getting the lightings, angles, arangements, makeup / touch-up done. Depending on the final output, DP/PS will be separately charged.

well ... it depends on the setting and what is the final output of the pictures taken.
if its going to be a 5cm x 5cm picture that is void of all details, then say approx $50 per hour. Typically, it takes about 10-15 mins to model the food and getting the angles right, then another 15 - 20 mins to take the pictures. So that comes to about $25 per dish.
If you are talking about a 4R size picture, then its going to take much longer for the setting up as you need to make the food "look" tasty. Also you gotta watch out for the lightings and reflections especially! Maybe 1 hr to setup and shoot.
It also depends on the complexity of the food that you are shooting. I still have good memories of shooting a fish head curry dish. It took 1 hr to set up and 2 hrs more to get the final output that looks right.

haha....reminds me of the day when I was shooting for the chicken cutlet for Shihlin Snacks...took a long time to get the right angle due to the complexity of the shape...
