mentioning other forums

Why is it that it's perfectly OK to mention the pentaxforum website, but mentioning the alpha forum results in a 3 week suspension?

Plus, the alpha forum URL is censored while the Pentax forum URL is not?

Not trying to stir up a brand war, etc, just wondering why the conflicting standard? Why is one forum "ok" and another is censored+suspension?

sorry , rarely in the Pentax or Sony subforums..... which instances are u referring to ? show a couple of links to compare ?

Is the alpha forum that you talk about a Singapore-based forum?

Just to note, Pentaxforum is an international forum...

Yeah, it's a singapore-based forum. Does that make a difference?

Well, here is the pentax one:
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/pentax/1063437-maybe-you-better-look-around.html

Then the one I posted was here:

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/sony-konica-minolta/1042825-bargains-deals-sony-a35.html#post7720656

Edited by clown. I had mentioned to tell florence that they were from that local forum, and got a 15-day suspension for it. The forum URL is also censored.

Just wondering what the basis is of the double standard, if it's just a local vs international forum thing, etc.

Alpha forum issue with ClubSNAP was way back in 2007 or 2008?

It all started when someone started a MO of T-Shirts for Alpha forum without first seeking approval, and when the moderators removed that started thread, someone created a big havoc and was Private Messaging users of ClubSNAP in attempt move them to Alpha forum. (Correct me if I'll recall wrongly)

I understand "Jason Ho" former ClubSNAP admin has attempted to mediate the issue, but are not able to recall how it ended and why the ban has been set till today. (Do a search in the Alpha forum and you will be able to locate the old threads)

As for your 3 week suspension, if it is due to the mentioning of alpha forum alone, yes, i agree that is not needed.

In any event if you find that your ban or suspension is too hash, or wrongly executed, you are free to email or PM any other Admins or Moderators to appeal. We do read email and PM, will reply and take the necessary actions to reverse of extend the ban after careful considerations.

Hi Simon, thanks for the reply.

Something like that - way way back.

Nah, I remember the PM, it just said there was a new forum so that local alpha users could chit chat without all the compact camera threads, create our own outings and sell our gear without being charged as "advertisers". I was not requested to move - just told that there was an alpha-centric forum available too.

I already served it. ;)

The main reason why I started this thread is that it was my understanding that linking to other forums from CS was not allowed in general - so I was wondering why it was actually selective.

Do a search in Alpha forum for Jason Ho post.

Jason took the time and effort to mediate the issue, unfortunately not everyone are willing to accept the house rules of ClubSNAP.

You are one hell of active members in ClubSNAP, and we appreciate all the post contributions you have done.

Well, I'm sure CS was a quieter place for 3 weeks then. ;)

Welcome back. :) Sony needs you.

:bigeyes::bigeyes::bigeyes:

Why? It looks like a good camera. I could use it for times where I need high ISO instead of low ISO (where the A900 still looks crispy).

That's because Sony is his "Wife" and Nikon is his "Mistress". lolx
