Does anybody here using external flash? If so what brand? Sony one or third party is better? The most important thing is the value for money.
I think I'll need it during my uncle's wedding on February.
Hope to see reply soon![]()
External flash is okay but you need to adjust according to the flash power. Did you see a small little thingy on the right handside of the lens which indicate "ACC"? That is for meant for Sony external flash unit only wire. It is not meant for other flash unit.
However you are still the horse shoe with other flash unit but need adjustment. Normally when you look at the SLR hotshoe there is a few little holes connected to each other. That is for TTL Flash unit which need not adjust if you use TTL system. Sony has found out that it was troublesome connecting a wire, so the new F828 hotshoe has been improved by using the same technology as the SLR. So the F828 is wire free but not F717. Too bad!
So actually for the F717, you have to purchase the Sony flash unit. I think it's a little expensive but well it's worth the money as when you set to Program mode, nothing needs to be adjusted. Just shoot. If I am not wrong, CP is selling about $200-$300++. Not to sure about the price but I think it's around there!
Don't forget you can use other flash unit and it does trigger the flash but you need to adjust each time you shoot. With Sony as I mention earlier just plugged in and shoot! Sometimes Sony sucks but they try to monopolise the market with their own product.
Oh yes! Sony flash does not swivel and unable to rotate.
So there you have it again!
