check with you guys, do you format your sd card with your pc or camera on first use?

my 2gb kingston elite pro suddenly become corrupted after shooting test shots.
it was formatted using the camera before use, took test shots, delete some shots, delete all shots, shoot some more, turn camera off/ on etc...
then suddenly after turning on the camera, the screen say the memory card got error. i check with my pc and it cannot be read or formatted.
i manage to format the card with the camera and this time, i format with the pc follow by format with camera again just to be sure... did some more testing and so far still ok.
BUT i am very afraid the card will fail on me when i use it for my trip in may :sweat: ...

any one experience this situation before? it happen to 2 of my kingston sd card bought during the IT fair...

Corrupted data in Kingston cards are commonly reported in hardwarezone, especially the "fake" ones. If it's for a trip it's better to use a better brand like Sandisk

Hmm maybe you could try to bring it to Convergent Systems for checking? From there maybe if it is faulty, they would RMA it for you. Where did you buy the card from?

Was about to get the Transcend X150 4GB SD (not the HCSD) at SLS but sadly, the shop is giving me some BS about listed price is for export and price with local warranty is 20 bucks higher... drop the idea and make do with the free 1GB ormal kingston that comes bundled with my K10D.
Maybe i might dropby MemoryWorld and ask about it.

finally managed to rma my sd cards... they tested faulty... think i better do lots of shooting to make sure they are ok :bsmilie:

I just bought a Kingston 2GB SD card cause it was cheap.
But I'm just wondering, how do we find out the transfer speed of our memory card?
And how fast can our Pentax DSLRs read/write from/to the SD cards?

Im planning to by Sandisk Extreme 3 1Gb sd cad in SG but cant find them in camera stores..Not available at MS Color..Does somebody have some quotes from others AP or CP...Btw Im not from SG...Thanks
