Memory card issue with M9

Hi all m9 owners.. i am aware that m9 is very picky about memory cards.. therefore i bought a 15mb/s sandisk 16gb ultra sdhc for my m9 (as i saw some pdf that wrote that this card is fine for m9)..

unfortunately i have experienced 2 times of this same issue whereby the card sometimes get accessed continuously after taking a picture until whole m9 fails to write the picture to the memory card.. I have to then take out the battery and switch off and on the camera and wait for a while.

it is really bugging me at sometimes, to know that pictures that you have taken doesnt get written to the memory card..

to top this off.. it is also quite slow to write to the memory card. i dont even dare to test out the continuous mode of the m9..

So is it the memory card or a camera problem? any owners care to comment?

I am using sandisk extreme and ultra with no problem now. However, when I first got the M9 brand new, there was an issue recognizing even the sandisk cards. It ended up in Solms for 1 month after I have it for about 7 days.

It's likely the SD card reader in the M9. Inferior piece of technology on a 10K camera.

Zoomp be kind! you already got yours back! I just sold mine that had the same issue as Zoomp's.

Yes, this is a issue and I suggest that if it repeats it's self more often, then send the camera in. I just had someone write to me from Rangefinder forum telling me about the exact problem with her M9.

Personally I do not like cards with bigger memory, usually 8gb will be the biggest. Best to have more smaller cards and change them more often so that if something happens you don't loose all the pics stored on one large card.

Try another card maybe with a smaller capacity and see how it turns out. All the best and I hope yours is a once off issue.

Sorry for hijacking this thread.. I had memory card issues with my m8.2 last night.

was trying to upgrade firmware to 2.005. followed the steps, and when i put it in, the display indicate the SD is full when there were no photos on it except for the firmware file.

i tried to format it on the m8.2 and it took ages. In the end I had to remove the battery.

Haha... Bro, I was being kind already. What's the estimated turnaround on your M9?

Use film M, no problems with memory card, , no white balance problems, no noise problems, no shitty 20years old LCD technology etc. :bsmilie:

Previously I also have this problem. But after I updated my m9 to the latest firmware, it seems fine for now.

Yujun, it could be the file numbering problem..See this thread:

Hope it helps.

When I asked that question,"How long will it take"? I did not get a direct answer.:sweat: I remember being told how long customs takes for clearance, freight cost, Solms does everything by hand etc.... until I kind of fell into a semi trance and walked out the door only to wake up without my camera and a piece of paper in my hand apparently agreeing to hand over to my camera to people I have never met before.

Whoa... blanked out. Hopefully you have another camera to use in the interim.

hmm, i have just bought another SANdisk extreme from it show haha quite cheap, 30mb/s 67$.. till now, even wit the spamming of continuous shot , its working fine. once i have chance to shoot more, i will know then, haha.

i guess the previous sandisk ultra II 15mb/s one, really had problems writing to it at a reasonably fast rate due to the huge file size of the raw file..

Ah well, sooner or later i will know haha. hopefully not the memory reader problem..

my version was already at 1.138 when i bought it, if not wrong, thats the latest version already.
