Memories of Hokkaido

Hi Ryan, like I posted earlier, my wifey is going off to Hokkaido real soon. With my crash course that sounded more like a monotonous hum to her, I hope she can bring back some presentable pictures. :sweat:

Just a query, for charging batteries (IF she could expend one in the first place) I know Japan is using these odd shaped 2-flat pin plugs which could be settled with an adapter. But what about voltage? Read that it's 110V. Is stepping down required?

Hi Six-GHz. I did not use any stepping down. I brought an adapter and they worked very well ( most of my chargers like my laptop / OTG harddisks actually had the two pin configuration so it was not too much of an issue )

Some of the hotels have an adapter for guests as well. Just in case.

Else there wasn't much discernible on the roads except darkness.
It was just us and the bus driver.

sorry, maybe this question asked before. didn;t went through the entire thread but thinking of sending my parents over to hokkaido in coming march or april to see cheery blossom. may i know which travel agent you go through and is there a particular name for such visit? e.g. 14 spendid days in Hokkaido?

My PCE 24 was much more limited electro - mechanically with my D80. Auto aperture will be functional with the D300/D700/D3, with zero mechanical shift limitations only on the D3 at the moment. ( The viewfinder of the D300/D700 sticks out too much and restricts full shift. I heard the PC-E 45mm will not have the issue with them )

Hi dfstan. we booked the tickets and our rail passes with Creative Tours. There was a promotion for the air ticket and free two nights stay in Keio Plaza hotel in Sapporo then.
The rest of the tour was otherwise self planned free and easy.

Thx moodR. For most of the panos I did not have the luxury of time for the finest alignment and I simply aligned according to the trees and the verticals of the picture against the grids from my viewfinder. The bubble level would turn out good too.

Me also(in the early stage) learn from the forum, other people and through books too. Not forgetting the power of internet.
So whenever possible i'll try to reply unless is too tired to repeat everything over and over again, which may cause some unhappiness in the process due to my "straight comments".

Have yet to try out a PC lens, maybe got time we can meet.

The underpass of JR Kamikawa. Over here walk a flight of stairs under the station to catch the bus to Sounkyo bus station. There are probably many other ways of traveling to Sounkyo ( it seems you can catch a bus ride from JR Asahidake as well )

Lots of flowers, planters, in the shops around Sounkyo.
This was the place where we met a group of Singaporeans on a mission to cover as much of Hokkaido in a shorter period of time. ( Opps but I cannot remember names, but u guys helped took pics of me and my wife together near the planter baskets of flowers, we took the same bus out of the valley on the 2nd day, and we parted at the train station. If you see this thread, do drop me a pm :bsmilie: )
