Memories of Hokkaido

Stunning pano. You really cover Hokkaido quite extensively. Your hardwork really paid off. Well done!

Thx bro. Honestly I love your autumn hues better. I realized the only thing that made me go in summer was the lavendar ( also abit of leave issues ), but otherwise all else green. Autumn hues ( and winter snowscapes ) are so much more different and beautiful.

Maybe I should be like Esther and visit Hokkaido more frequently :bsmilie:

Hi Ryan,

Finally found time to run thru your thread, very impressive. Didn't realise that you have so many fans. It seemed like only a fraction is printed on your Panorama Landscape book. You should see the faces admiring your book at my showroom. Some even asked: " Are you a travel agent?" :bsmilie:

Post a couple of shots of your book here, it’s sure to wow.

Hi Ryan (Giantcanopy)

With the pictures u're churning out, I guess in no time the Japanese Toursim Board will be in contact with u. Why?

Because of your pictures, u make people wanna visit Japan thus contributing to their economy!!!

Wonderful wonderful pictures.. Don't know if I'm ever gonna reach your standard.. I understood only like 1/2 of wad u guys were discussing.. DAMN!! Gonna read up and go snap snapping more!!

Cheers Ryan, keep those pics coming!

I think so too. My home monitor is set a little too bright I guess.

My book is *donated* over to my in-laws :bsmilie: Will try to get a shot!
What I can only do is to bother u to come up with another print for the rest of my shots when I am done with the compilation ;)

( I already self psyched myself for another trip in winter to get better shots )

We visited Glass Forest ふ ら の 硝 子, a compound next to the terminal stop at the junction of Rokugo Town ( Map of Rokugo can be obtained from the Furano station ).
Within the Glass forest there are several interconnected huts termed Glass villages, each hut displaying the art works of a particular artiste. I have never seen such exquisite and ( cute ) ornaments ( or maybe I have not seen enough ). My ex-gf / wife now bought a few of them. Prices are slightly steep, and some cost more than my air ticket.

Here is one of my favourite little piece of glass, taken from a lighted glass shelf.
( with the 85mm micro - lucky to carry a lens with a shorter working distance for the occassion )

Hi amelia glad u liked them

Kitties on a pool.
They are pretty small, a pinch can break them.
Mix and match, you can have Santa around the pool table and have the pool table floating on a glass boat or glass clam shell, and plant a field of glass lavenders around them, fenced with little glass pickets. The combination is almost endless with their vast varieties of items.

Yes it is a lovely place. But abit too far off for a person visiting Furano but with time constrains. It was the Glass Forest and the dinner folks ( which I will post downstream ) that made my Rokugo trip worthwhile and memorable.

Yes brother zoossh . My wife now :)

I am not too sure now if i would still go back to Rokugo.
Maybe I needed to allocate more time there, it was raining crazily at the end of the trip and we were hiding in a small restaurant run by a father-son ( I think ). We had to catch the last bus back, and although some say romantic, but spending time with ur partner in a small wooden broken down hut ( aka bus stop ) waiting for the last bus in the midst of an almost ghost town on a rainy night was quite an experience.

Thx vajrasattva. I hope to do much better when i revisit nxt time. Looking back there were too many mis-shots.

#116 Did you rely on tripod for this shot? Can share details of lens, and aperture etc. thanks. I am poor when comes to sunset scene, and could not capture such mood and details as shown in your pics.

I realize 24mm PC is an expensive lens. How much did you pay for it? I hope to learn more from your shots, and use Photoshop to create the blur effect. But your shots capture lots of mood and emotion, as though you were born in Japan, and have that connection....I was supposed to fly to Japan this morning for the autumn shots, but hospitalized last week, so must cancel trip. Your pictures brought great comfort and compensation.

( It was sunrise actually :P Sunset was dependent on the trip itinerary and we might be
shopping in the evenings , sunrise is more predictable as long as I wake up early enough )
Yes it was done on a tripod.
It was an 85mm PC I think.

I am so sorry to hear of ur hospitalisation. Hope u r much better. Missing the trip must sure be disapointing!

I shipped it from US. The total price amounted to be less than 2.8k SGD brand new, and was about 200 bucks cheaper than local price then.

Thx again for ur kindest words, I promise to bring more from Hokkaido in winter a year from now. Maybe next time I strike CNY toto I will migrate and stay there for good :)
