The old man was actually taking pictures with his film SLR.
He passed us while we were busy taking pictures of ourselves with a tripod.
Roads are well mantained, with stretches of farms and fields on the sides.

Hi Maybellim so glad u like my shots so far. I used to love painting and sketching some time back. Maybe when i retire i can go back to what I started from

I used a D80 for my shots. Still working fine, so i guess I will be using it for a long time to come.

Nice. May i suggest burning the right area beside the sunflower just alittle bit as well? to balance your GND on the left

Thx g-khoo for the idea. Actually the original thought that came through was to bring the flower out from the field, hence the GND ( a flash might do fine as well ) . retrospectively doing it on PS is always more accurate especially in such a non linear scene. Will take ur suggestions !

Won't it be better to change from International to domestic at KIX [Osaka] - same terminal ?
Of course that would depends on the International carrier.
Self planning this early December to Hokkiado - wonder would there be snow then ?

I have no preference for the place of transit, and chose Osaka this time round - the international and domestic flights are at the same Kansai Airport so it was more convenient.
But if you are going Tokyo just make sure to give some time. Met a singaporean group of friends that were literally rushing for the transport to and fro the two airports.

My nxt trip I will probably visit and transit at Tokyo

December should have snow!

I guess both photography and painting involves all of our senses

The shot below took me less than a minute to take, and less than 30 min to process.
A painting will take me almost a month with the right mood and attitude.

Hi, I've just arrived back from Hokkaido and now recoqnise some of the places you shot at. My dreams of replicating your shots quickly evaporated as the trip degenerated into a snap shot frenzy. Trying to handle the 40D with 2 lenses, my PnS 550UZ, camera bag, kiddy stroller and running after my super energetic 3 year old made it near impossible to compose shots the way I would have liked. I've started to post some shot on my Facebook site unedited but I'll pick and choose a little more carefully plus wait till I've had a chance to PS the pix 1st before posting on CS. I ended using my PnS almost 50% of the time!

I must say, my admiration for your work has increased seeing my results vs yours!:thumbsup:

Wah, only now admire, ah I alreali admire before I go Hokkaido :sweat:

Anyway, if got small kids running around, forget about good photo-lah :bsmilie: My kids grown up also cannot get good photos, they don't wait for you one-lah!

p.s. that's what I try to explain to my wife when she complaints why need to buy expensive camera when the result equally bad :devil:

I was was waiting eagerly for your Hokkaido portion as I was also there recently. As what was commented your landscape shots are beautiful.
Below are a few of my shots taken at some flower farms (we did not stop at Farm Tomita as we were rushing to catch the lavender express )

As can be seen from photo1, I have problem composing this shot as the flowers are planted on a gradient. I have incredible difficultly placing
the tripod. Did you encounter this problem? Your shot no 154 looks quite soft and thus dreamy, how is that achieved? By the way it looks likes
like the work of Shinzo Maeda!

It is my attempt to show the curve lines of the slope. I noticed that in a lot of panorma shots (which I have not tried before) that the flower
rows are vertical. Can this photo 2 look good have shot in a panomora manner from this angle? I hope this is not odd question but I am
not a very artistic person

I also have the same problem as you when it comes to the sky, they were virtually no clouds, no blue skies but quite plain white colour.
Except to the last day, when I was rushing and NOT carrying tripod was the sky a brilliant blue! Unfortunately no time to compose proper
shots.
