Mine! It's all mine!! hahahahahhaah

hahaha... they are a very loving and interesting couple :) both are excellent artists in their own field :D

Hi Ron,

Nice pics! You just exaclty captured the moments!

I'm new in CS. Realised your photos are all in b & w... is this your usual style for AD wedding photography?

so eager to show my wife your workz....here are her comments..

1) looks like funeral especially those ghostly pictures..
2) Black and white - there should be more life and colors in a wedding..(her expectations lah)..

one of the points which I find it actually kind of true ..to some extent..for point 1 :(
older generations might not like such photos...however, we younger ones dont really mind..

anyway, I like them all... if point one is true to some of you, maybe shouldnt include those potos in coffee table books..:dunno:

which part of the photos look like funeral??? black and whites are not meant for life and colours its about capturing the moment and muting out colours so that the subject/object is the main focus of attention.

but matt, you're right about older generations who are very used to the "classics" of wedding photos ..... but then again, some of our current generation also prefer the classics cos they have not been exposed to photojournalistic type of wedding photography.

In other words, you can never please all your audience, whats most important to wedding photographers is that their MAIN clients *bride & groom* love our work and understand that they are getting QUALITY not quantity.

Hi Preciousthoughts :)

Thanks for your comment.

Not really but I have a tendency to favor monotone to color :)
My style is still photojournalistic.. color or non-color is another aspect of presentation...haha am I making sense here? :bsmilie:

Well said Eadwine :)

Matthew, thanks for your comments as well as your wife's comments... Indeed for some, they would not appreciate the blurry or 'ghostly" imagery and monotone is generalised as death/ funeral photos... but like I have mentioned in an earlier post, it's really 2 sides of the coin. One side will like it, one side will hate it so again, it really depends on what shape your thinking...

To me, B&W represents the meaning of the shot. I'm sure many PJs will disagree with what I say but that's what I feel (basically sterotyping B&W to be PJ-styled) that represent my style of work and life's philosophy.

What Eadwine said is true, you can't please everyone BUT the important thing is that your client is pleased eventually . Same goes to all the genres of photography, commercial or non-commercial. Therefore you shoot for yourself and for your clients. Once you have your style pegged, they will start to see the perspective you are offering.

and another point, western countries photographers are shooting in mixed film mediums (color, B&W, Xprocessed). So it's more of our Asian mindset in play here. That's also why I want to try the idea of doing a coffeebooks in total monotone to our Asian couples, to break the norm :D

As for this presentation, I have checked with the client before attempting the series in B&W. The treatment was to be classic and not oldish therefore the very simple modern layout with key shots framed or graphically arranged for effect.

:)

*clap clap*

clean, uncluttered, simplistic, classy...tats wat i feel..

Your PJ style differs from others here. But i like the feel it projects.

Looking forward to more of ur works ron.

thanks Bernard :) how's things going for you?

how much did you charge for this?

totally agree with u...its the couple that is paying....like what sniperD said, yes, u need to create a style which customers would approach you becos they like the way u shoot and do not mind paying any premium you quote becos they simply like your style.

For my case, when i convert colors to black and white photos, my wife always make noise cos its her preference to see all in colors. However, i do agree with her in the older generations point of view.

Anyway, i would love to have my actual day taken very differently and unique as such, not easily found in the average AD market.

I have seen works which cost so much but yet look so "point & shoot". I feel sad for the couples though...

lastly, hope to see more of your workz...something to learn too..;p

** She likes this series better..Ü

:) hahaha... funny... every client (eps the brides) loved that series to bits...

but that series was one of the most fun one I had in my shooting experience :bsmilie: and on hindsight, it's not really me that created the images as such; the bride and groom created the whole feel for themselves and I just capture them as such.. so brides-to-be , it's really dependant on your planning and what you really want.

agreed!

the personality of the bride and groom play a huge part in the outcome of the photos. i mean that statement might sound rhetoric, but we can't as photographers ALWAYS bring out the pure joy and fun and beauty of a wedding if the couples do not exude that, or they are more on the quiet/sombre/serious type.

as they say, we capture moments, we don't (necessarily) create them. :)

what ron has done here, is, being presented with such a lovely couple, totally succeeded in capturing them exactly as they are, which is why the couple loves the series so much. correct me if i'm wrong ron. ;p

heheheh..... hard to be journalistic if you have to create the feel during the happenings :bsmilie:

dude! u outdid yourself this time. I forsee alot of kopy cats along the way for these design layouts.

Hi eadwin! No offence, but it is not nice to use the word "Kopycat". I think it is an insult to many people here. Yes i admit it is excellent piece of work. I can say i am a learner at the moment, we learn from other photographers in this forum and trying out different styles so as to learn. When we learn, we also copying or learning what our teachers are teaching right? Jus my opinion. Dont get offended! :bsmilie:

I guess there's never a thing called originality after the 80s. If I dare to post, I welcome people to emulate. afterall it's a sharing forum :)
