I got it frm Perly for the 20D, but I have a colleague who tried mine on his new FZ5. The bottom plate fits the FZ5, but he couldn't pull the strap through the eyelet next to the shutter. It also looked kind of weird as the FZ5 is so tiny. Maybe you can PM Perly & ask him if he is OK to meet and let you try?

Otherwise, its a great grip for digicam/DSLR. Unlike the Canon E-1 grip, I don't need to attach the battery grip in order to use it.

indeed, there maybe some minor issues with the small strap lugs of the FZ5, but it maybe overcomed by using a "triangle" or metal ring as a intermediary.

That the ways to overcome the small strap lugs, FZ10 lagi worst..

any issues when used together with a QR plate? how stable is it with a QR plate (if it is possible to use together)?

possible to use in conjunction with QR plate as the screw thread is continued.

hmmm...the bottom of my 1D already got an eyelet for hand grip

can i remove the bottom plate completely and secure the strap to this eyelet directly?

Yes, the base plate is removable for direct use with the battery grip....
