I am interested..but can I use this on my Nikon SLR and A40 ?

Its a slave flash.

As long as your camera has an onboard flash you can enable, this slave will just trigger together with the one on your camera. :)

When is the order? If not so soon, then maybe can seriously consider. Budget a bit tight now. :)

It won't be ready that soon. Not this month, not even in time for the next seed.

I'm thinking of making the collection on the 16th, kill two birds with one stone. But all these are just estimates.

How much for the diffuser? And will they sell flash bracket as well?

what is the main disadvantage of slave flash??

will other ppl cameras trigger off my slave flash??

Yup, thats the chief disadvantage.

However not all cams emit a double flash, so if your digital does then many flashes from other people would be "filtered" out.

it would be interesting during a fashion show to see how well the slave work.... but a key advantage of a slave is that it can be positioned off camera (without lots of cables lying around).

how does the slave flash ensure correct exposure even if there is no other camera around ? does it compensate for the on camera flash ? or does one need to guesstimate and manual adjust the flash power ?

I have already mailed them, but the guy is in Germany (photokina) so response may be slower. Sorry.

Alternatively, flash brackets are avaliable in CP.

The "auto power sensor" is supposed to take care of that. It will detect the amount of light reflected back from the subject and if it exceeds a certain set threshold, the flash will be cut. (The camera flash would be part of the light reflected back)

This is similar to what will happen for a normal auto flash.

The presence of only one auto mode might be limiting though.

don't really know what's meant by the following sentence. Generally the more auto F stop available, the more flexible you can be.
Multiple F stop will make Item 1 redundant.

Zoomer,

I just sent you a PM, pls check & reply.

BTW instead of cold shoe, does it come with a tripod mount or adapter as I intent to put this flash on a tripod.
The reason is that I'm using this as a slave flash together with my Canon SLR & external flash.

Thanks for organising this MO & Best Regards

You have PM, sent around/before(?) noon time. :)

hey zoomer,

just to confirm - you got my contact details right? pm'd you sometime back. really interested in this flash for a special project. :p

Hi Zoomer,

Is there any warranty given for this customised Slave Flash?

If no warranty or after warranty, can we sent it back to Suntax for repair if there's a problem with it?
Can we sent it thru' their dealers?
How much do they charge (e.g. bulb blown)?

I understand that you might not get the reply so soon but do keep us posted.....

Thanks & Best Rgds,
Tony_K

Hi Zoomer,

Due to the delay in the flash, is there a limit to the shutter speed that we can use?

Thanks.

The delay does not really affect anything. Your camera shutter activates at the 2nd flash, not the first.

Yup, hope your project isn't time sensitive cos I anticipate that the flash will only be ready like 1-2 weeks after my contact returns from germany. However one encouraging fact is that he has brought a phototype there for testing and has only encountered one minor bug.

Hmm, would this make a good slave flash for my C-720UZ?
I'm a newbie interested in taking good protraits and maybe macros too :D

Is the 2nd flash visible? Frankly I only see 1 burst of flash from my camera if its not in red-eye reduction mode. An Oly C2100.
