Hi Guys am thinking of providing studio realted services. Wondering if I can get some feedback whats the market rate for things like resume portraits, or coporate portraits.
would be most grateful for any opinions.

I dun think this is an appropricate forum for u to post this issue as this is a place for people to post their portraits photo instead of asking about market rate...admin guy can u kindly repost it in an more appropricate place..

Thread moved to more appropriate forum.

Sorry for the wrong forum posting, ok maybe I get the ball rolling. Am finding out the norm rates and not what jeff ang or any big names would charge. Simple potraiture work for resume, anual reports etc.

Is $50 reasonobale for 1/2 hour shoot with a few poses and lighting position.
general touch up of say 20 images, brighten eyes, removal of stray hair etc...

too low!

What will be a reasonable rate for a fashion shoot with about 5 models ( 5 best shots per model) including retouching? Can anyone help me out?

maybe u can consider charging by the no. of shots, or package ur services.

S$50/ half hr is too low.

Am open to suggestions, what would you charge? my services are still not officially available and I dont want to spoil market.

Why don't you do your math, why let people tell you how much you should to charge?

You need to factor all this for the pricing.

you need to pay yourself, (regardless your business is profitable or not, you have to pay yourself first)
you need to make profit, (this is different from paying yourself, if a businesses is not making profit, will be out of business very soon.)
you need to pay makeup artist,
you need to use studio,
you need to maintain your gears,
your cost of productions...etc.

What local makeover studios is offering now, is at the rock bottom, and the quality of works suffer.
You can't compete the price with them, just set your own rate, compete the quality with them, if customers complain you are expensive, send them to makeover studios, if customers want quality, the have to pay for it.

Hope this help.

Cool thanks for your feedback. But yup like I said am trying to get a feel of things cheers :)

Cost isnt too high for me at the moment since I got my own studio set up, not too high end stuff, but good enough to deliver. No Mua involved simple make by client will do. Will focus more on lighting to bring out the shot. Like I say just for simple stuff like resume, era type poses. Not talking about glamour photography. Greased bodies and fans. Simple strait forward portrature services.

The irony is: charge too high and people won't patronise; charge too low and you get exploited.

Ask yourself: are you good enough to charge market rate? Can you justify your quality with the price?

My view: start with a lower 'promotional' rate, then once your clientele grows and your works get recognised, then up your rates accordingly. Even if you feel the rates are too low against the competition, just treat it as subsidising a learning fee to grow your portfolio and experience.

still the same thing..

work out a few package. price ranges from package to package. cater to different needs and different cliche.

its hard to strike a balance sometimes man.... but i tink end of the day...u have to judge the cost of ya own work...and tink about whether if the price u are charging is worth the effort...
