hi guys,

i need to know the market rate for around an hour of photography ( for ROM/wedding ), it's on boxing day evening. how much would it cost to hire one?

are you asking for photographer or you are the photographer wanting to know the market rate.. if the latter, then you posted in the wrong section... :)

It used to be around S$380-$400.
Now it's been brought down to around $200.

All the best...

yes indeed its $200/hr now...and professional photographers do at least a minimum of 2-3hrs.

Per hour my foot...
Greenies are offering 200 for the entire ROM affair except dinner.. !

Try beating that...

Not doing for FREE?
I think you should do a search in here...

I wish my air con man and plumber would also offer FREE services! :bsmilie:

$200 is for greenhorn. $300 and above is for pros. Do you want slack product or professional quality. ROM is once a lifetime and there is no such thing as to redo again.

no such thing as pro or not. it is all about customer satisfaction. some of my friends told me that they don't need the photos but just to satisfy their parent. some married long ago friends said those photos not full of dust but can't throw it away.

depends on the contents...

without album or whatever, service itself can be from $50 an hour to $200~300 an hour, that depends on photographer is making extra pocket money or earning a living...

and also how the photographer value his time and his works...

bear in mind that even it is only one hour event, unlike his able to take in other assignments on the same day to supplement his income, so some pro will not lower the rate and rather take a wedding day assignment.

if you are not looking for fancy stuffs, just set a budget and find someone within that range.

hope this help.

don't need extra frills like dvd album or album art. i'm a digital artist myself ( in photoshop ) so i can do all the image enhancements myself. i do know a bit about photography too, but considered amateur ba, since i normally take for leisure purposes (not for commercial profit), and prefer to take macro shots. what i lack is all the equipment and an extra person to help me take the shots. on a super tight budget, so i can't really afford much.

got greenhorn photographers offering free services? i don't mind actually, cos i'll be asking a few more guys to take from different angles.. so if i'm not satisfied with one, at least still got another one to salvage. anyone who needs to add in to their portfolio without renumeration may PM me.

not too picky for ROM shots ba, only the customary wedding and the professional photoshoot is much more impt. haha.

got quite a few ppl PMed me already, prices range from 70/h to 120/h.

anyway, OT a bit : is there anywhere that i can buy cheap studio lights and any guide to set up my own studio at home? ( got a spare room which i may want to convert into a studio next time )

a ROM ceremony is an event with very short duration, best is just get a experience photographer, not a few greenhorns standing around the table and blocking each others...

anyway, it is your event, it is your call.

You took the words out of my mouth.

At the end of the day, you will not want to see photogs occupying more than 50% of the photographys. Reason, all fighting for the best angle.

what do you mean?

the problem is with the budget after all, cos i'm cash-strapped after all the preparations done. maybe i'll try to think of an alternative..

wow very subjective...
i guess if i gotten free service fr a green horn n he screwed up, I am not in no position to bang table! and if i gotten cheap service for fr an amateurs n he screwed up, i am not in a very good position to bang table either haha... however, not all amateurs are bad n not all pro are good.
i seen "****" pixs fr a friend's wedding.... totally shocked.... he paid for almost $3000 for so call 2 pro cam man (softcopies only) from a super famous company in e trade. his day pixs mostly blur n abt 80% of photos cant c e couple's face, night pixs r worst! up to 90% blur n all super yellow n down exposed. they confronted e company n they said its e style of journalist photography! speechless!
