another common way that i use frequently, is to take multiple vertical frames, every frame with at least 25% overlapping (i always do 50% or more just in case) to the previous frame and stitch them together in post processing, if you are going to use this method, keep in mind to have the camera leveled for every single frame, best to put on tripod with hotshoe bubble level, and the stitching can be done quite easily in post.
