It's CZ, short for Carl Zeiss.

That's what I felt as well. But that only can be substantiated by other testing authorities.
Nevertheless if you consider how sharp modern lenses are - all of us should be thankful - and bear in mind... with the small little files we post online... if at 900 x 600 --- which is, 0.54 megapixels - and at that size, almost all lenses become very sharp.
I'd bet that many photographers don't regularly develop shots that exceed S8R sizes for their own portfolios - and at 100% magnifications - at 12 megapixels on the screen - it would be a print that is roughly 150cm by 100cm - all of that - inspected at the distance one would normally read newspaper - that is the very same reason why our screens are 72 or 96 dpi - at that reading distance, our eyes can only discern that much at that distance.

here when we talk about C 24-70 - that's more or less short for CZ... but if we say L yea, that's a canon.

CZ is the one that supplies all the machines and QA engineers... Doesn't matter where the factory is. My 24-70 is made in japan though.
Yes the site is actually comparing the Canon 24-70 L lens to the sigma. Had to do a translate of the webby to make sure though

Do you think our sony 70-200 f2.8 G lens is overpriced? Let say compare to Canon, one of my Canon foe always says that he can get the equal lens 1000$ less than sony price (he meant Canon 70-200 f2.8 L no IS)

I don't think so. But then again you choose for a system based on your expected results. I personally don't care about the price in the end.
What I do care about is that the PMA is going on and we have 10+ pages of talk about a new body that does not arrive and some gloomy new lenses that no one is waiting for and Sony gets away with it.
Either it is going to be summer fast or I go A900 after all ... 'nuf said ..

Why bother? Is that lens a "premium" lens as Sony's lens?

L lens is professional grade like our G lens, so its also a 'premium' lens.
Well... I've seen some really bad L lenses. soft, etc etc.
It's almost like they anyhow paint a lens beige, give it a red stripe and call it L.
I see... Like the comparison we saw from 24-70 F2.8 L vs Sigma 24-70 F2.8? ;p

When we compare, both must be on the same lvl i suppose, eg:
Price & specs for Canon 1000D + 70-200 f2.8 L with IS or Sony A200/A300 + 70-200mm f2.8 G, which is cheaper?
Cannot use non-IS vs Sony G...
They do have cheaper "L" aka premium lens (cant understand how it is premium yet cheap...dun see the link there...)... then again, there is a saying goes "一分钱, 一分货" dun expect pay peanut get gorilla wor...

I'm quite sure there will be a 24-70 shootout somewhere on the web in due time comparing the CZ, Canon, Sigma and Nikon... Pity Tamron, Pentax don't make such a lens...
you can always argue it another way: with built-in IS in alpha bodies, alpha users should be able to get sony lenses at cheaper prices, just because since Sony lenses are non-IS, they are logically cheaper than those with IS.
hence you should compare price Sony's lenses with other non-IS lenses
other than that, other factors must be considered too: IQ, SSM, coating, etc etc.
