Sounds cheem...but whatever. :)

Because they share the same mother company mah.

mother company is just a matter of commercial purchasing, isn't it?

gitzo is french, manfrotto is italian.

it is something like lenovo buying over IBM. thinkpads are good stuff, but would one just buy other stuff from lenovo?

of cos, for the two tripods, both are branded stuff..... quality is there. but i prefer manfrotto among my two tripods.

This is not true. If you have seen Bogen-Manfrotto entire product line, you will notice some of Manfrotto's light stands and video dollies are manfactured in France, and I believe, it is vice versa for Gitzo.

Samsung & Pentax = Korean & Japanese
Panasonic & Leica = Japanese & German
Sony & Ericsson = Japanese & Swedish.

All are brothers who share the same mother, but different father.

Sorry. If CP is the manfrotto agent, does that mean I can bring my manfrotto tripod to them for repair? One of my catch (you push it upwards) which lowers the leg broke off.

Thanks. I called them and they said they had just taken over. The excuse given is that in Europe it is the summer holidays and there are no shipment of parts. Ask me to call me in Sep. :thumbsd: :sticktong

Check with Mr Alex Yeo of Alex Photo at Penisula Plaza. He parallel imported some Manfrotto tripods, parts and accessories.

Manfrotto rocks! No regrets buying them.

Well, I do heard that France do have a break period around this time. Check www.airliners.net
There was a period of time where they kept mentioning about holiday, and the A380 delays

Not sure if it applies throughout Europe. Hope someone can shed a light on this :)
