Match Pack: Arsenal

Can United extend a miserable run of results for Arsene Wenger's men?

Form Guide: Arsenal have stuttered since winning three in a row during October. The disappointment of the 4-4 draw against local rivals Spurs was compounded by defeat to lowly Stoke. In contrast United’s form is very good - the Reds have won eight of the last ten in all competitions, only drawing at Everton and Celtic.

Ins and Outs: Emmanuel Adebayor will miss the game with an ankle injury sustained in the loss at Stoke and former United defender Mikael Silvestre is doubtful after breaking his nose in Wednesday's draw with Fenerbahce. However Arsene Wenger may be able to recall Emmanuel Eboue, William Gallas and, more probably, Theo Walcott. Long-term absentees Eduardo and Tomas Rosicky remain sidelined.

Star Man: Cesc Fabregas is the orchastrator of Arsenal’s attack and despite his tender years he has already assumed a leadership role within their young team. The Spaniard is deployed in the centre of midfield where his range of passing can unpick the very best defences. He scored the first goal against United in last season's corresponding fixture.

Rivals watch: Liverpool v West Brom (Sat 17:30), Blackburn v Chelsea (Sun 13:30)

Diego joins United
Sir Alex Ferguson and his squad were delighted to meet one of the world's greatest-ever players on Friday when Diego Maradona joined them at Carrington.

The United players trained in front of the newly-appointed Argentina coach, who was keen to see how Carlos Tevez is shaping up ahead of this month's international friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Birthday boy Rio Ferdinand, 30 today, told ManUtd.com: "We were like schoolkids around Maradona. We were all clamouring to get pictures taken with him.

"He came and watched us train and I think the gaffer might like him to come down every day, the way it raised everyone's standards! Everyone was trying to impress him.

"He is one of my heroes, if not the shining beacon when I was a kid. I had all his videos and loved watching him. He was a great player - a great team player and a great individual player.

"It was nice to shake his hand. It made my birthday, actually. I hope he goes back to Argentina and tells people he saw a great player in Rio Ferdinand!"

 He as national coach so free can travel n watch his players train abroad!:devil:

I has been so since this year...MU need a goal poacher like RVN

No la, dun think MU need a goal poacher like RVN. His style dun suit Man Utd anymore. On Celtic match, its more like having lots of possession but din create much chances. Tevez was living on scraps. Celtic of cause defended very well but I think its more down to Man Utd not creating chances with the possession they had.

Yes, Scholes is very impt. He is very under rated these days just because he scores less goals. Man Utd still need him and have not been able to find a suitable replacement for him.

1 of the players I know is like Scholes is Riquelme but he lacks the pace, esp for EPL.

Wes out, Fletcher a doubt

They should remain that way till end of season!

Wah what u taling about? All 3 are very impt to Man Utd. Wes did an excellent job last season and losing 2 midfileders like Fletcher and esp Hargreaves is bad news.

I rather have Brown in 1st 11 over Neville these days.
