So fast mind game start liao!:sweatsm::devil:

Yeah man, but Man Utd are double winners. If we maintain the standard, others have to catch up. If Man Utd, improve, then they no hope liao. :bsmilie:

Hopefully Carrick and Hargreaves can convert more this season!

If Hargreaves take more freekicks or penalties, surely he will convert more. He is as good as Ronaldo in set piece I think. diff technique but effective.

Spurs set record fee for Berbatov
White Hart Lane chief Daniel Levy was left incandescent by claims from United that they were on the verge of competing a deal for the Bulgarian hitman, before Tottenham had even received a formal offer. Now Spurs will demand a British record fee in excess of the £32million United agreed to complete the full transfer of Carlos Tevez. While Tottenham had put a £30m price tag on Berbatov's head, they had been privately willing to settle for £28m.
Martin Lipton, The Mirror

Reports the Guardian: "The Premier League has decided there is not enough hard evidence to charge Manchester United with making an illegal approach for the Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov."

The paper says Premier League officials are to ask Spurs to supply conclusive proof to corroborate what Spurs chairman Daniel Levy described as "a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference" on United's part.

The Daily Mail says Tottenham are planning for life without Berbatov with a £17million bid for Russian international Andrei Arshavin.

Newcastle's new signing, Argentina international Jonas Gutierrez, will not be available to play against United because he is yet to be registered with the Premier League, says the Daily Mail.

$$$$$$$$$$:sweat::devil:

Although I know clubs want to get more $$$, I dun like the way Spurs are diggin for more. Really make them look cheapo and desperate.

Sigh no news of Bebertov? At 27 he is kinda expensive for 32m pounds. 26m still ok. Out of Bebertov, Hunter, Bebertov likely to succeed in Man U.

Hope to hear good news for striker.

Yeah Berba is proven in EPL but he is a little old. Dun think the bid is 32m. Reported was 28m but Spurs are playing hard to get and what I dun like is they resort to using the media and accuse Man Utd of being confident/complacent.

28m is a lot a lot of money
i think even 20m for berbatov, is expensive
i dun really rate berbatov that good
he scores some spectacular goals, but not scoring frequently enough to warrant a 28m price tag imo

Rooney fit for season opener
15/08/2008 11:17

Wayne Rooney has shaken off the effects of a virus and could start against Newcastle on Sunday at Old Trafford.

The striker fell ill during the club's pre-season visit to Nigeria at the end of last month and it was feared that Sunday's big kick-off would come too soon for the 22-year-old. But after a solid week's training, Rooney is fit and ready to take on the Magpies.

“Wayne Rooney is fit and he will play on Sunday, which is good news for us," Sir Alex said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"He’s trained all week and has done very well. He even trained last Sunday on the morning of the Community Shield. From then on he has been progressing really well."

Rooney's return is a major boost for United, who are already without Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha in attacking positions, and midfielders Owen Hargreaves, Anderson, Nani and Ji-sung Park.

“Nani is suspended so he is out," added the boss. "And Hargreaves, Ronaldo, Park and Saha are all still injured and Anderson is at the Olympics. So in terms of attacking options, we're down to the bare bones."

However, Sir Alex feels his squad still has the strength to overcome Kevin Keegan's men at Old Trafford on Sunday. “The backbone will be the midfielders and defenders we have available," he said. "We have a good variety there.

"Hopefully that’s enough to get us over this first hurdle against Newcastle, which is always a good, exciting game. Newcastle always come and have a go, so it should be an open type of match."

Northern rocks: Newcastle

A team on the up? Well things can hardly get any worse than last season…

Headmaster The game has evolved since Kevin Keegan's first tenure ended in 1997, but he retains his 'attack first, defend later' approach, which spluttered into life against Fulham in March after no wins in his first nine games. He wants to spend; Mike Ashley and Dennis Wise would rather save the pennies and gamble by "nurturing young talent".

Head boy Steven Taylor: the Greenwich-born defender, having penned a new deal, is key to plugging gaps in a defence that boasts more holes than Augusta.

Maths In the second half of the season, the Magpies conceded 43 per cent of their goals in the last 20 minutes.

English ‘Buy British’ we’re told. Hmm… Owen is injured again, Smudger hasn't scored since his arrival from Old Trafford, and then there's Joey Barton...

History Take a pinch of that Terminal 5 chaos, throw in a bit of Steve McClaren's England and you get something resembling last season's St James' Park carnage.

Tuck shot item Flake: sexy image but crumbles under pressure.

Predicted grade C+ The Barcodes still lack quality and tactical nous, and excite and frustrate in equal measure; the 54-year wait for a trophy will rumble on…

Detention Who else but Barton.

Draw our opening game. Not so good cos its at home but still its a decent result considering the state of the squad. So many out, really unbelivable! Ronaldo, Nani, Park, Hargreaves, Tevez, Anderson, Saha wah sian.....

2 points drop....MU pack so many useless player on the field donno for wat? :dunno:

O'shea, Giggs(b'sides the assist), Scholes, Fletche(b'sides the goal), Brown and Van de Sar....Damn...it's really hard to stop Chelsea this time....we need Ronaldo to score 50 times to stand a chance

Cos all the useful player not avaliable. Sian! If got assist and goal, then cannot consider useless la.

No prob la, last season Man Utd lost and draw the opening 3 games and still won. No fear man, have faith in the team. But these injuries, not avaliable are really killing the team.

I don't think Fraizer is good enought for MU...he will definately starts for team like Hull but we need someone big & fast and who can win a match single handly...even Oba Martin faired better.

By right Saha is close to one but by left he can never play more than a dozen matches without getting injury :dunno:

After two subsequent goal drough, suddenly Berbatov looks very likely but provided MU willing to break the bank

Now our only hope is Manucho quickly get his work permit sorted out....base on his performance in African cup....I think he has the potential

I dun think they are as resilient as Mourinho era. This Chelsea wanna play attacking football, like us but they will leave gaps too. So I think it will be a tough fight but they are prob not as resilient as Mourinho's team.

Of cause its worrying but this is essentialily an almost 2nd string team. so many players injured or not avaliable. Not choice then filed this team. So its a decent result but not very good.

I more worry that Fergie din get an assistant and still stalling on a striker.
