Read in today's ST that the reason why Hargreaves din play more games this season is because he is being punished by Fergie. He likes to report late for trainings and meetings and that makes Fergie an unhappy man. But Fergie also said that Hargreaves is an impt player and will need him for the title run in and CL.

Wah the weather is really bad at Riverside Stadium. 2-2 draw, and quite a few missed chances. :nono: Defence really in trouble with Vidic injured and Rio being sub out due to injury. Hope its not sreious.

Tsk yea. Worrying, two key defenders injured...one confirmed out, the other awaiting news. Who was playing right back? I only caught the last half an hour.

man u defence really sucks... without vidic so jalard meh..
this kinda of defending performance i doubt they can win the EPL and champions league,
i have to admit that chelsea and liverpool are so much better in their defend.
and they keep losing the ball

Well...Not a surprise results when both Giggs and Scholes are on the field

Disappointed with the results. Now we are only 3 points clear and we have to face Chelski & Ars. Hopefully our players can return in time.

Rio is already injured before the Roma match hope he can come back on time for the return leauge at OT!

Honestly, Vidic (my fav player btw) really makes Ferdinand look good. But without him yesterday, Ferdinand was a sitting duck. So exposed.

Man Utd can live without Ferdinand but not without Vidic.

Dun tell me for the next few game we have to repeat the same thing as last season to score more then we concede!

Totti set to miss out again
Roma captain Francesco Totti is likely to miss Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final return at Old Trafford with the thigh injury that kept him out of the first leg.

The 31-year-old striker is yet to return to full training and sat out the Giallorossi's 3-2 home win over Genoa in Serie A on Saturday.

Coach Luciano Spalletti, who would have been desperate for his talismanic skipper to return as the Italians seek to overturn a 2-0 deficit, admitted: "I would be happy to have him back next weekend."

Totti has 14 league goals to his name this season and was conspicuous by his absence at the Stadio Olimpico last Tuesday, when United took a giant stride towards a semi-finals thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney

Its a good thing that Totti is not around!

Man U will come up with a 3 man defense team

The game ag Roma, the best defense is attack. Roma has to attack and Man U can counter attack.

how abt 3-4-3 formation

I would have rebutted this claim 2 years ago, but now I tend to agree :o

Could see Fergie (the Man Utd Manager, not the other Fergie ;) ) fuming at Giggs for not being sharp enough and hence failing to latch onto the ball when Park Ji Sung chested the ball into the penalty area.

old men can't run...... shld have fielded anderson/nani

Sian.... looks like they won't be able to wrap up the title before they head to Stamford Bridge......

Was hoping for another "guard of honour" by the Chelsea players.

Giggs: We're on countdown

Ryan Giggs believes United’s comeback against Middlesbrough may prove crucial as the Reds move into countdown mode for the final five games.

An April blizzard wasn’t the only surprise at the Riverside. Two goals from Afonso Alves put the home side in front after Cristiano Ronaldo had given the Reds the lead. It took Wayne Rooney’s late strike to haul United level and edge into a three-point lead over second-placed Chelsea.

“We hope it will be a crucial point,” Giggs told MUTV. “After going 2-1 down, it's probably a point gained. Some people before the game were saying the title was done and dusted. We’ve always said there are tough games coming up, for us and Arsenal and Chelsea.

There will be a few twists and turns yet. We’re on countdown now. There are five matches to go and we’ll be up for each one. We want to win every game and we’re capable of doing it. But we’ll have to be at our best.”

With Nemanja Vidic missing, John O’Shea took the Serbian’s place alongside Rio Ferdinand. But Middlesbrough’s all-out attack really tested the newly-formed central defensive partnership. Giggs gave full recognition to Afonso Alves, scorer of both Boro goals, and Jeremie Aliadiere.

“We had good players coming in," he said. "You have to give credit to Boro. They didn’t have anything to lose, so they went for it. Not many teams do that against us. They kept two up front and they were always dangerous on the break.

“We started well, with good movement, passing, and taking the lead through Cristiano’s goal. When Middlesbrough scored, it was a case of they attack, we attack. It was an open game. It could be a good point because it’s one of the toughest grounds to come to.”

Yeah the midfield had problems but its due to Carrick and not Scholes. Carrick had a bad game i think. He was found upfield too often and it left the defence expose and Scholes had to cover for him and that is the big problem as each Scholes tackle is worth 1 yellow card!

Giggs is really getting slow these days. He was quite a libility against Boro and i'm surprised with Fergie decision.

Roma leave Totti at home

Roma captain Francesco Totti will miss Wednesday's Champions League return at Old Trafford after being omitted from the travelling squad.

The 31-year-old striker sat out Saturday's 3-2 home win over Genoa in Serie A. Roma coach Luciano Spalletti admitted then: "I would be happy to have him back next weekend."

Totti was conspicuous by his absence last Tuesday when United took a big stride towards the semi-finals, winning 2-0 with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

Another first-leg absentee, Greater Manchester-born midfielder Simone Perotta, is recalled to the Roma ranks after completing a one-match suspension.

Spalletti named the following squad for the second leg, as listed on AS Roma's website:

Goalkeepers: Gianluca Curci, Doni, Carlo Zotti
Defenders: Christian Panucci, Marco Cassetti, Cicinho, Juan, Philippe Mexes
Midfielders: Gabriel Antunes, Alberto Aquilani, Matteo Brighi, Daniele De Rossi, Simone Perrotta, David Pizarro, Rodrigo Taddei, Max Tonetto
Forwards: Mauro Esposito, Ludovic Giuly, Alessandro Mancini, Mirko Vucinic.
