Striker's potential excites ex-Red

Ex-Reds defender Arthur Albiston has tipped Danny Welbeck to build on his introduction to the senior United team in Saudi Arabia.

Despite missing a penalty, the 17 year-old's appearance as a sub in the friendly defeat by Al Hilal was encouraging.

Albiston has seen Welbeck at first hand in his Reserves and Academy work for MUTV, and believes the young Mancunian could one day feature in the first-team squad.

Albiston said: "Danny has the ability to drag the ball past defenders. He has a languid style and you might think, at first look, that he is not quick. But, believe me, he is.

"Often tall players don't look comfortable on the ball and their control doesn't appear great. But Danny is a really smooth mover, is confident on the ball and has great control.

"He can beat defenders using either foot and has a very nice unflustered temperament. He gets knocked about a lot but he just gets up and gets on with it.

"United have the likes of Rooney and Tevez who are low centre of gravity, powerful players. If Danny progresses as he should, he could offer another option."

Arthur Albiston was quoted in the Manchester Evening News.

Looks like we might have another striker for the senoir team!

Match Pack: Spurs

Tottenham blasted five past Arsenal in mid-week but haven't won at Old Trafford since 1989. Sir Alex will surely be confident heading into Sunday's FA Cup fourth round tie.

Form Guide: Spurs supporters are on a high after beating Arsenal for the first time in nine years in the Carling Cup semi final. In fact, Juande Ramos' team haven't lost in any competition since New Year's Day. The Reds, meanwhile, are also on top form, with Reading, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Birmingham all among the recent scalps.

Ins and Outs: Anderson should return to United's midfield (compassionate leave), while there's a remote chance Paul Scholes (knee) could make his first appearance since November. Spurs came through their mid-week test unscathed but are still without Darren Bent (knee) and Gareth Bale (ankle). Antony Gardner (ankle) could return to the defence.

Star Men: Jermaine Jenas stood out in Spurs' win over Arsenal but the spotlight on Sunday will undoubtedly be on striker Dimitar Berbatov. He's the danger man, and the reason Nemanja Vidic will need to be at his best if United are to progess in the competition.

Rivals watch: Arsenal v Newcastle, Wigan v Chelsea (Sat), Sheff Utd v Man City (Sun).

Phew! We manged to go on to the next round of teh FA Cup. We played quite badly and the defense seems to be sleeping. Luckily we managed to out score the Spurs.

Hopefully we will play better in our future games now that Scholes is back.

At his age, Schole is still good enough to command a regular place in the England first eleven if he didn't retire earlier.

Papers: Berbatov's no Red

Dimitar Berbatov's United Dream
It's clear Dimitar Berbatov has the ability to play for Manchester United - but does he have the pace? Tottenham's top talent has been linked with Old Trafford longer than any Spurs fan would like. And the heavy hints that he would like to play for a 'top team' are being dropped for Sir Alex Ferguson to hear. But, while the big Bulgarian showed once again yesterday that he has the flair to light up the United stage, there are real doubts about whether he would fit in with the way Fergie plays.

Elsewhere, the daily papers are full of post-match reaction after United's FA Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur. According to The Times, the Reds coasted to victory, but only after a shaky opening period. The Guardian, meanwhile, claim the Reds' come-from-behind win was as much down to habit as it was ability on the day.

Angolan striker Manucho is also in the news after netting twice against Senegal in the African Nations Cup. The Daily Mail said: "Manucho scored with a powerful header and an opportunist finish from close range to improve to three goals in the tournament."

We seem to get all the difficult opponents along the way while the other top teams have easier opponents. Never mind, lets hope we whack them like what we did in '99.:bsmilie::devil:

Last time Man U met Arsenal at OT for FA Cup tie was in 2002. That time got that botak and katak golie

The beauty is if Man U beats EPL teams to reach the Final, they could meet a lower standing team

There's always 2 sides to a coin, here we are bemoaning about meeting Arsenal in the 5th round of the FA Cup, I'm sure the Arsenal fans are also cursing about meeting Man Utd at this stage... ;)

It doesn't really matter, if you're true champion, you beat everybody along the way...
