yeah u be right about the focus, i try with the 11 points focus next time. would a electronic viewfinder help? must be difficult to see with mask on.

kar seng, the other post? we both got ours at the same time altho different circumstance, we met on scubaboard

Me no expert but just some suggestions that you may try:

1. Use STTL and not STTL/LOW. Why do you want to lower your strobe power?
2. You DOF is very shallow, probably due to stacking 2x +6 diopters and wide aperture. With strobe at STTL, use Manual mode and set aperture smaller like f/14-18. In macro, it ok to just light up the subject but not background.

thks for your tips bro'. will do that right away as i am off on another dive. there is a 'snoot' for most strobes in the market, would that do?

and your molas plus rays gallery was excellent dude! thats what i will be working on next..WA! was it cold there at penidas?

You heading to Bali? Ya water is cold at Manta Point and Crystal Bay, in the low 20s. Wore a 3mm full suit plus 3mm hooded vest. Still felt a bit chilly.

that was what i was afraid of..i already using a lot of air in 30 degrees water...but still, go and take a look-lah. going to Padang Bai actually. with a day trip to Penidas.

its a skeleton shrimp :)

Actually it's not a skeleton shrimp. They look very different. It's most likely a spider crab or decorator crab species. More likely spider crab.

For macro shots. You could try starting at F11 onwards, it's give you more DOF. Shallow DOF shots are not so easy especially if you don't have a large enough subject or a dedicated macro lens that allows you to get 1:1 magnification. ISO and shutter looks fine. Maybe you might want to try a spot focussing option and centre focus point, especially if your object you want to focus is in the centre of the frame. (ie eyes of the subject or rhinopores of a nudibranch)

I have always shot my Z-240s in manual mode, i find it fast and easy to adjust strobe power from there. And you you'll roughly know what power settings to use after a while. :)

thks all the sifu's here, will give it a try when i go to Padang Bai again this 18th Oct. missed the Molas.

i got me 2 Z240s this time will experiment with WA also. since i got a 9-18 mm 4/3 lens also.

will post as soon as i come back.

sgreed, spider crab probably!

There's a season where manado/lembeh will have a population explosion of blue ring octopus. Ask the guides roughly when and plan your next trip around that if you're very keen.
