Better news on injury front

If the number of senior absentees from the aeroplane ferrying United to Marseille had fans fearing - or opponents hoping for - an Old Trafford injury crisis, then Sir Alex Ferguson's pre-match press conference may have nipped both in the bud.

On Ryan Giggs, the Reds manager delivered the good news that his veteran Welsh winger should be "okay for Saturday" when United visit Wigan in the Barclays Premier League. Meanwhile, Anderson's knee injury - sustained in the first half against Crawley Town at the weekend - is not as bad as was first thought and although he has flown to Portugal to see a specialist, he will be out for "maybe two weeks, a maximum of three."

A similar timeframe is envisaged for Ji-sung Park, who hasn't played for United since Boxing Day after captaining South Korea during the Asian Cup and subsequently straining his hamstring while training with the Reds. "We've really missed him, but he'll be ready in two to three weeks," said Sir Alex. Earlier returns are predicted for central defenders Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand from their respective ankle and calf problems. "They should be available for the Chelsea match next Tuesday," the manager said.

March could also bring a long-awaited comeback for Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia. Sir Alex confirmed he's now training in "contact" situations and may be fit for the FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal or Leyton Orient on 12 / 13 March.

The Reds' squad to take on Olympique Marseille is as follows:

Goalkeepers: van der Sar, Kuszczak, Lindegaard
Defenders: Vidic, O'Shea, Brown, Rafael, Fabio, Evra, Smalling
Midfielders: Scholes, Gibson, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Bebe, Obertan, Tunnicliffe
Strikers: Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez, King.

Le sulks is no longer what he was 10 years ago and always a trouble maker....donno why so many team like him....if I am coach, would have ditched his long ago :sweatsm:

anelka is quite temperamental....but he has his good days sometimes. :bsmilie:

I think nowadays, he calmed down quite a bit but because of his age, he isn't the player he used to be. I think he is still dangerous, just scored yesterday.

Ermm... away leh... Although I hope we will win, but I'm less optimistic. 3 wins out of 12 away games doesn't inspire confidence. :embrass:
