Maldives Dive Shops

Going to Maldives for the first time this month and plan to do some diving and photgraphy. Will be using my Starwood points to stay at the Sheraton Full Moon resort. I know there is a diveshop there from Euro-Divers. As I am a "captive" client base, am concerned may end up getting slaughtered on diving.

Looking for inputs from anyone who has been there before in that are there off-island diveshops that could come and pick me up for the dive or am I limited to using the only dive shop on the island?

What dive spots would you recommend to see pelagics?

Thanks.

due to the vast size of maldives, LOB is the best way to explore the dive sites in maldives. or seaplanes :p

I am a Singaporean staying the Maldives for about 2yrs+ now.
Too bad I am not into sea sports or diving, otherwise I could have offered you answers to your question.

Btw the weather is erratic now due to possible start of the monsoon season here, rough sea, strong wind, heavy rain and grey sky are to be expected.
Its feels more like in a rain forest then in sunny Maldives during these poor weather.

Hope luck is with you!!:)

shucks, did not realize it is rainy weather. Too late to change. Hope for the best.

i just happen to check for maldives best time to go ... should be in december.. :)

The weather is improving now but still erratic, waves are still rough.
In fact I am off to a resort stay tomorrow too, doing mine part in reviving the Maldives economy! hehe:)

December is good but VERY very expensive too for resort stay here!!

I just came back from Maldives today. Did one dive with euro divers, cost around usd 93. I was at kani clubmed, weather was good the 5 days I was there, heard that it was really bad rainy weather the two weeks before I got there. Hope it remains good for you!

Hi Meiziji,

Is it only 1 dive for US$93 ? Do you need to make advance booking for the diving ?

Thanks.

Yup that's only for 1 dive, orientation dive (to test skills) was counted in. Need to go one day before to book your slot.

Went in June and weather was clear and hot. Rained only once during the day for 10 mins and once during the night for the 5 days we were there. Dived 3 times with EuroDivers. They are very professional. Saw the small mantas on two dives. On last dive came across a school of ~15 mantas. Quite expensive at US$93-100 per dive but on all 3 dives we were the only boat in e area and we had only 2-3 divers each time. So the exclusivity made up for the cost. Unlike diving in Thailand where you usually get 20-30 divers in e same area.
