OMG!!!! this is superbly good and cheap man... but how to secure the manifying glass to lens? if without hood, or even if u are using hood? if i can be alittle thick skin to ask if u can do a shoot of your camera with the manifying glass? thanks in advance, if its not convinent then its alright too.

the results of the mani is really very good!

well, i can trade my magnifying glass with your tammy..haha

I'm also a newbie...around 10 months in this hobby and tried the use of magnifying glass, CU filter +4 and reverse lens..just for the fun of macro shots...for me I rather invest in a better portrait lens than a macro lens...opps this is the 1st time i reveal my cheapo macro lens..haha

another shot to share..with magnifying glass again..haha

My goodness, cthep2! Those are amazing shots with magnifying glass!:thumbsup:

tried achieving a macro shot with my humble standard kit lens 18 - 55mm
and i thought the results was pretty good or rather somewhat similiar. but of course can't beat a macro lens.

I actually kind of like the feel of this shot, especially the water droplet. :P

Dont waste ur money on a +4 closeup lens if u do u will regret. Should go for a +5CU filter because its a double element instead of one..... The results u will get was like this....

i was thinking if i shld ask this qn. haha. but seriously if can get a shot of the lens will very gd for a noob like me. :D so for the time being i can still practice my skill with the magnifying glass till i get a set of remote flashes before i go for the EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM. ;)

magnifying glass wasnt that bad.
im so like :o $2 cheap!

so it will be lens+filter+hood+the glory magnifying glass?

interesting thread :sticktongmagnifying glass:bsmilie::bsmilie:

wow
these are very sharp!

bro cthep2... so how do you attach the mag glass onto your hood? and what's your lens like? heheheh.....

now every readers on this thread will be scouring for mag glass around their houses and shops..

I'll find my magnifying glass tonite..haha..dun know where I put it already ever since I use reverse lens.
I've used my 18-70mm Kit lens + hood + magnifying glass, 75-300mm + the hood of 18-70mm + magnifying glass and Sigma 70-300mm + hood + magnifying glass..:bsmilie:
This setup is good for training...your patience..haha

You can bring your hood to a shop then try a magnifying glass that will fit in.

But as what bro excelglsi(our macro master) shown, the 2 pcs of achromatic CU+5 filter + his flash diffuser will be much much better than my setup.

i am also interested to know what the lens is like and how to attach. Wanted to try macro but not too sure on my skillsets 1st. ;)

just went to ms color to order a hood for my lens. dont want to take any risk of scratching it. :embrass: so probably in 2-4wks time when the hood arrives i will get a magnifying glass to try it out. :D

excelglsi: how much does those filters cost? can use it for my canon kit lens? attach it at the front of the lens? sorry if im asking stupid qns (probably to u). :embrass:

how is this shot?:
IMG_0814.JPG

Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter Speed: 1/25 sec
ISO: 1600

its taken in RAW n processed with Canon's Digital Photo Professional. as advised by someone in a fish forum. but its more on general photography tips. ;)
