If you are further, the camera cannot be in focus. So to put it in another way, the focus distance of the lens is 0.3m

Just to add on, the higher the diopter rating, the closer u have to be to the subject to focus. i.e. to say, your working distance is reduced, together with the depth-of-field.

working distance of 0.33m only apply when u fully zoomed your camera(12x) so on the overrall it is bigger than 1x zoom at 5cm working distance
