Macro lens vs Macro Filter

yah, but was talking about macro filter...the one I have doesn't seem to have any noticeable light reduction...
Ups, sorry, I though you are talking about macro lens. Macro filter should be called Close-Up filter to avoid confusion I think :sweat: .

May i know what brand you are using? Also digisnap did you get an extension tube of a specific length?

There are standard extension tubes of around 36mm in length. I tried out different lengths at the store and decided that to be sure, I'll just get the 3-pack. This includes 3 tubes of 12mm, 20mm and 36mm. You can use all of them together for maximum magnification (at the expense of less light) or you can use them one at a time or in any combination. Pretty useful if you ask me.

I use an Olympus Mcon-35...no longer in production but one of the best ever...but only available at 62mm filter size...:)
 

I would love to try the extension method.

Can I use the D80 kit lens (18-135mm) with the extension? Or 50mm F1.8?

How much did u pay for the 3-pack extensions?
