just check the spec and assuming yours is below model :dunno:

Processor and Memory

* 2.0 or 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2MB on chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed
* 512MB (single SODIMM) of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 memory on 2.0GHz configuration; and 1GB (single SODIMM) on 2.16GHz configuration; two SODIMM slots support up to 2GB
* 667MHz frontside bus

The RAM before I change seems fine... The problem comes after I change the RAM to 2 GB at SLS. I change the RAM back to 2 x 1GB and see how...

Thanks...

Mine's just Intel Core Duo... Can only support up to 2 GB... May have problem doing teathered shooting?

faster speed? LOL

Ram compatibility test is usually harmless. It either works or it wont.

1+1 = 2
2 = 1+1

But 1+1 not = 2z
where z has a special "zheng" specification :bsmilie:

maybe his new ram overspec'd ;p

The problem with RAM is that the memory chips themselves are roughly the same quality. You'll even find inexpensive memory chips on a more expensive board (such as all levels of Kingston) but they don't really make the difference.

It's the controller chips that count. Many companies save by doing a cheap design and many, like Kingston ValueRAM and below, are affected adversely by EM interference and heat.

To the person putting a laptop computer on the bed: it's got to exhaust the heat. If you cover the exhaust vents, it's going to become hotter than it should because the heat has nowhere to go. Put the computer on something hard and put that on the bed.

My MBP just came back from service ctr problem FREE... Except for noisy fan that is... Generally, they said it is as good as new.

This set is up for sales. PM me if interested.

I just bought another MBP with a higher specs @ 2.5GHz, 3 GB RAM... Now I am ready for tethered shooting and video edit.

Thanks for all the guidance... So as a whole, try not to overheat the MBP else it will hang is this one of the more general known problem?
