If u guys have followed the release of new apps from apple, many P* ver comes bundled with worms & trojans juz for macs & leave it open for attack. Recent competition to hacking multi-sys, the mac was hacked in less than 18hrs, the champion of them all. Apple also encourage their users to install anti V software, so mac users, dun be too slack with protection. U never know if ur sys is a client already or not...

lol...xhui :bheart: liao. :bsmilie:

yes it is possible for viruses to be embedded in files, but so far not likely to affect macs. on a similar note, word or excel macro viruses could potentially cause problems.

madmacs :kok:

I wonder which Anti V for Mac is great tho.

After using for a week, I don't feel anything special about mac. Just that the boot up and shut down is fast (Faster because I have not stuff it up with junks) and nicer sharper LCD display. Besides that I am using it for photo editing, surf web, type document....nothing really special actually.

I guess it is all about the hype...isn't it? There are mac users commented that after they have switched they never look back...what is just so special? Care to share?

Goodness you use your mac for these - photo editing, surf web, type document. No wonder you can't feel special.
You need to walk down orchard road with your mac in order to feel cool.

Who told you theres anything special about the mac? Certainly, you would know by now, after using your mac for a week, that you never have to look back again because of the glossy screen! Try it........ See, you can see everything behind you now. Never have to look back again.

A bit OT here:

Could someone please recommend me a good forum to buy/sell Mac stuffs? Eg iMac, Macbook, etc.

I did a google search, there's a singapore mac forum but it's not very active in terms of Buy and Sell.

THANKS!!!

The Mac forum sg is quite death now. If you are looking for a Mac over there...chances you might find one you need. Why don't you tell me what you kind of specs you looking for? I'm a member over in that forum. Cheers!!!

Yes, it's very dead... So sad... I posted something and for a week I had zero people looking at it!

Thanks, but I've already gotten a brand new Mac. I was thinking of selling it away not long after ordering it cos there was a lot of struggle inside me whether to stick with PC or jump into Mac. I thought I would regret it but I thot to myself, if not now then when? So think I will keep it. :)

Haha.... It's ok Xhui. You are all a great bunch of Mac users. Maybe Clubsnap should have a Mac family section here and organize outings, discussions, photo trips etc together.. :)

Why don't you say have a Mac thread. Isn't that good? At least there's people helping together tho that forum is quite 'dead'? Just a suggestion

Internet threats are wide spread, and it is possible to hit any systems (Win/Mac). It is better to be safe than sorry.

1. Kaspersky has launched a internet security for MAC:

2. Sophos Internet Security for Mac:

3. Norton Internet Security for Mac:

macheist gave out free copies of virusbarrier x5 a few weeks ago just for spreading the word on facebook.

occasionally they host macheist puzzles where you can grab free software for solving them.
follow them on twitter for promo updates.

Tried with Kaspersky before. Far too strong for my PC. Each time I wanna turn on my usenet client, it cannot get connect until it is close. Then, it will resume.

Now Im using ZoneAlarm (PC), so far so good. I dun mind ZoneAlarm Mac if there's any tho.
Luckily that my Mac usage is for photography and also certain selected safe forum. Unlike PC, I surf too many. Haha.. But of course, better safe than sorry. :D

I was told by a few Apple dealers that the best antivirus software for Mac is Intego's VirusBarrier X5. Is that so?
http://www.intego.com/virusbarrier/

I'm not sure if it's the best anti-virus software in the market, but I definitely prefer it over Symantec anti-virus software. Its real-time scanner is a plus, and it doesn't slow down my MacBook either.

Thinking of buying New MacBook. Which shop is the best place to buy in Singapore which has good support, and better pricing/freebies. Thanks.
