M9 - a la carte

At the rate u are being poisoned, I strongly advise u to go for another round.. Maybe u can ask them to tattoo "Leica Summilux". Since u wanted it so badly...

Who has been spreading rumors about me again, it's supposed to be a secret that I ordered the latest 35 and 50 Lux!;(

Actually I want to tattoo a new back piece of the RF group gathering which includes all the Sifu's! Your face is in there of course.

So can I say that Schmidt Marketing is the one that says no, while Leica Germany would offer this service for free (for many forumers who sent in direct) or for a fee?

Definitely for a fee. For free? That would be charity. My case is unique and a little complicated so would not elaborate more. Please don't PM me and ask how I got around it. Given the circumstances, I would rather have my brand new M9 un-engraved.

I think if you read the replies again, there is nothing that says that the local agent said no. You will have to pay for the service and freight to Germany too.

Definitely for a fee. Its a matter of wether its worthwhile (individual of course). Will find out more from the local agent.
Its a 'good to have' and not a 'must have'.

If I ever buy a M9, I'll get them to engrave "Voigtlander" on it... :bsmilie:

Below is what I read and the TS was given a flat NO. And TS followed up to say that Leica Solms came back and said OK. Thus it gave me the impression that Schmidt said NO and Solms said YES. As for some forumers got the engraving for free, I am not saying all will get it for free, just some. If you have read Leica US forum, some people sent theirs for focusing issues in Solms and got their M9 back with engravings for free.

Thanks Meven
Well , mine is under warranty and was given a flat "NO".
Astroboy 888 was quoted S$700.
What's happening?
This is really frusterating.....
Pay so much for a camera and seems like they are doing us a great big favour.
Will revert to Leica to see what they have to say........
Thanks to all who responded.

Flat no was from Leica Solms.

If you are daring enough, you can get one of your old Leica III template and scribble on it using a sharp knife yourself... :bsmilie:

Just use marker lah, today write Leica, tomorrow erase off and say Leica M9, then third day write Leica SG club etc....heehee
