$69xx to be exact. Leica warranty is worldwide. The Noctilux was $7k also.

I told them that the prices are no good and immediately was quoted $7.3k. And if I was serious, there can be further discussion.

Hi guys,

Just wondering that the general feeling in the ground is like of the M8. Does the quality commensurate with the SGD 7k price tag?

Also, how does it compare in terms of value for money with say... something like a hasselblad Xpan?

They still need to solve the magneta issue first.

Orient Camera at SLS is price at $68++ of not wrong. SG prices is rocket high. :(

But for me, be it $7k+ or $6k+, I still cannot afford it. :(

No. This HW issue cannot be resolved wiht a SW fix.

Sigh....sad sad sad.

This is one of the reasons why I am still waiting. Hopefully, they will be able to fix with in built in IR filters.

This is a 'take it or leave it' situation which I cannot reconcile with.

The pictures are really sharp though and speak great quality especially when used outdoors.

What about the AWB problem?

Right now, M8 is out for me because I'm paying such a high premium for a camera with some many inherent problems. After reading the leica user group forums about sudden death incidents of the M8, it's like buying a time bomb.

I doubt a new version of M8 is going to be out so soon, esp when Leica hasn't even sold enough to recoup their R&D for the M8, apart from jacking their lens prices by 20% (paying $6k for a noctilux is just ridiculous)

To get the most out of the M8, u'll also need the lens to be coded, which means more $$$.

Depends on you still want to shoot film or go digital. The Epson have too little M pixels and short battery life.

M8 is the rangefinder digital camera but still have issue..price and such...

Why no Voiglander Digital Range finder at S$2000???

Not possible.... Cosina is a lens manufacturer where more than 50% of their revenue comes from projector lenses and another huge percentage comes from OEM for Zeiss. Digital is not in their map. Unless another strong digital partner comes in and invest in the R&D in digital. These days, it's difficult to get any R&D going with good people and decent amount of $$$ into investment....

For me... I'll stay with 35mm. Don't have to worry about all these IR, AWB issues.... :)

Fixed. The other alternative is to continue to use R lenses on EOS bodies. Another thing to do in the meanwhile is to buy the lenses and wait either for MKII or M9.
