m6 battery cover

hello all,

i just got my first ever leica - an m6 classic (despite psychoing myself for months to get an m4) and while i'm completely enamored by it, i am facing a small issue with the battery cover.. how do you guys usually open it? mine's the one with the depression for a coin but it looks rather shallow and it already has some paint loss from the moment i bought it so i am not very keen on using a coin to further scar the cap. any tips?

my ex-M6 classic is the protruding cover cap ...just use thumb and index finger and unscrew it ...didnt know it has another version ?

Fingernails do help. All I can say is, dry your hands and just unscrew it.

And, do not over-tighten the cover when you've replaced the batteries. Generally, too much is bad for the threads as well.

i saw on rff or l-camera people suggesting latex gloves, too bad i don't have any handy! (pun completely intended)

Well, if no choice then just use a coin. Or bluetac might work as well?

Guardian sells what you need. Is it seriously stuck? Are you even turning it the right way? Who knows you might be tightening instead of loosening.

well i found out that my mom had a pair lying around to handle her hair dye so i tried it out, works like a charm! thanks for the help guys! i was trying to unscrew it until my fingers were numb, and yoricko you really made me afraid i was turning it the wrong way for a moment there hahaha
